    Congratulations on the recognition awards!

And do so agree with you about cooking being a basic life skill, one I didn't learn until far to late! But I did have the good sense to live with a chef in my 20s thus avoiding any need to cook at all!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Very impressed with Miss T. I spent a silly amount on food when i first moved out of home and ate so unhealthily.

Hope you get your sparkle back soon, roll on cold but sunny, frosty days.

Morning Greent and GoldieGirl, I'm guessing it is human nature to berate ourselves occasionally. Whilst I don't regret what we did, I do wish I'd 'grown up' earlier ;)

But on the positive side you "grew up" in time to teach DD and DS how to live sensibly and within their means - that's a priceless lesson you have taught them.. and would be a lesson a lot of the younger generation could do with learning too..

And this below proves it :D
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just talking to DD and she's telling me radishes are on offer at Ald!

    How funny is that:)

Struggled waking up this morning after a lengthy chat with DD. It's great to hear her so positive. She's eating meals out of the freezer this week and has enough for most of next two weeks. Looks like she will be batch cooking once a month, then living off the meals for the rest of the month. Sounds like a good plan to me.

That's what my DD does - she refers to them as her 'food parcels'. I was so disappointed when I looked in her freezer and they weren't all wrapped up with brown paper and string :rotfl:.

    How's your feet :)

Brown paper and string would look much nicer than plastic boxes :). May get a bit soggy first though :rotfl:

Feet looking neat, soft and smooth - no nail varnish though, that was a step too far.

DS is doing a bit more cooking now. It really is important that young people are taught the basics. Eating a meal together, catching up on the day, laughing together - food really supports how the family unit functions.

Sparkle is definitely a bit dull but hopefully it will return soon. I'm really missing Mr T at the moment :o

Shala_moo, it's making us both laugh. DD has menu plans and sits with her books or laptop to find recipes. I am ever thankful to this site :money:

Busy but constructive day, dinner was Spanish chicken bake and I added peppers and courgettes to bulk it out. Enough left for my lunch tomorrow.

I managed to get to the bank and have paid money in :)

I'm off to get on a call (hopefully the last one) then it's bed.

    Night, Tilly x

    Hi Tilly

I just wanted to pop in and say hi. With my wedding recently I haven't been very MSE. Just had a catch up with your diary now things are back to normal. Glad you are well and your daughter is enjoying university.

  • Morning, I came up to bed last night and DS was on the phone with DD. They were having a good catch up. I went to bed and DD was messaging me on FB. DD and DS were laughing about DS's love life (not asked her out yet but sounds like he's aiming to). I ran into DS and the three of us ended up in hysterics. Great to see DS in his new room, loving his space. He's taken to having a shower every day and wearing aftershave - the benefits of having girls interested in him :rotfl:

Mr T is home tonight and we're having carrot and coriander salad, rib eye steak and potato wedges.

    NSD ahead.

Thanks to Greying's thread and her great contributors I've printed out a £5 voucher for L!dl. I'll use that on Saturday.

October is racing by. I need to check how much holiday I have left as I'd like to have a long weekend off with Mr T. Not to go away, just to have some time out.

I'd better get ready for work. It's been a little manic to say the least :)

  • Morning, the weekend is here :). Mr T enjoyed his dinner last night and it was good to have him home.

L!dl shop first thing and will be using voucher :money: I only need yoghurt, milk, fresh veg and fruit. I'm using the SW free food recipe book and it's Jamie O week in terms of cookery books.

Will be walking the dogs today and hoping the rain holds off.

We are seeing DD on Sunday and having a family lunch with mum. She is looking forward to catching up with her DGD and hearing about Uni.

We have the heating on now :o. not bad to get to 8 October before it went on though.

  • Have turned into a lazy old moo - two cups of tea in bed, thanks to Mr T and haven't even jumped in the shower yet

I have done two uGov surveys though :)
