I'm not sure my head will get through the door tomorrow as I had another recognition award today. If they keep giving them away like this, they will end up being meaningless :rotfl: Maybe it's because they know I want to leave

Just talking to DD and she's telling me radishes are on offer at Ald!
How funny is that:)
Struggled waking up this morning after a lengthy chat with DD. It's great to hear her so positive. She's eating meals out of the freezer this week and has enough for most of next two weeks. Looks like she will be batch cooking once a month, then living off the meals for the rest of the month. Sounds like a good plan to me.
Out of a house of 6, 3 of them cook real food and 3 live on takeaways or ready made meals. I'm interested to hear what the difference is in their food budget. I completely appreciate everyone has a choice and I also don't feel evangelistic about it, but I do wonder how many young adults have never learnt to cook. Thank goodness for U tube and all the food blogs as hopefully these will inspire more people to want to learn. We don't have to churn out Michelin level chefs, but being able to make a spag Bol, a soup, casserole must surely be part of a basic 'bag of skills' required.

Radishes, a little grated cheese, mayo and some cayenne pepper makes a lovely spicy dip0

Morning, 1 sleep until Mr T comes home
I've booked a long weekend away in November and looking forward to some lie ins, walks by the sea and catching up with friends. All in, the flights and car hire were under £80.
The sky is a beautiful colour this morning. Bright but sepia tinged and last night the moon was glorious. I'm a little embarrassed to say I stopped the car last night to stop and appreciate it.
Right, back to money. I was surprised by TCB as I check it most days and a chunk skipped from first stage to pay stage in 24 hours. I've not seen that happen before. Today and tomorrow will be NSD.
I made JO chorizo and chickpea soup the other day and I can highly recommend it. Rammed with veg and I only used 1/2 the chorizo. Spicy and warming.
NSD ahead for today and tomorrow. I have rounded up all the loose change but had hoped to take it into the bank yesterday. Will aim for today and if not, will have to go in on Saturday.
Whilst I've been typing the sun is now streaming through the windows
With all the decorating that's gone on, the amount of rubbish we had for collection day was HUGE. I felt quite embarrassed when we put it out last night. It looked as though we had all the rubbish for the houses near us. What a luxury having rubbish collected from your doorstep. It's one of the things I forget about but we live in a society where these things continue. I was listening to the radio 4 news early today and parts of Iraq are having 2 hours electricity per week. In the town they were speaking about, the children's hospital has no Drs only nurses. How would we all manage to live like that? The message was 'live how people lived 1400 years ago'. They certainly didn't have the weapons they have today but that logic is lost.
Right, I'd better get cracking.
Have a good day.

I was normally quite simplistic about my cooking (lots of pasta and rice) but when I was revising for my exams my mum upped my weekly allowance to allow me the luxury of Birdseye microwave meals in the cruddy microwave they sent me to Uni with, which we christened Son of Satan because of it's ability to cremate pretty much everything!
Sounds like DD has got it well sussed! In fact more than me as I haven't even managed to make any soup in quite a while (a few mum woes... )- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033
