Hi Mr E, I certainly do feel a proud mum
. I'm also mightily relieved that we have been able to give her better advice than we were ever given.
Well done on reading 20 pages, it's been a difficult few months so my apologies for the waffle
Now you've got me though - have I used S&P? I can't for the life of me think what it stands for.

Morning, Wednesday already.
23p Tilly Tidied to mortgage. Every penny is going off the mortgage now as savings amount is ok. It's odd but I find it way more motivating to reduce the mortgage than increase the savings.
It's performance review time at work which is tied to salary and bonus. I am pretty sure I have worked hard and I hope this is recognised. I haven't built bonus payments into the mortgage clearing plans and am still deliberating whether to save them (assuming we receive any) or move to the mortgage.
On a positive note, I've received two recognition awards This week. My boss must wonder what's going on. We have a process where other leaders can recognise and reward you for contributions over and above. Finally I had a message from another global leader yesterday to thank me for something else. I am definitely feeling loved, I just want that to show in my review
.
Anyone who reads my diary will know how much I love Christmas. However this year, as we draw nearer to the end of the year, I have lost the feeling. I'm not sure whether its because DD has left home (she's still coming home for Xmas though), or whether I am worried about mum, or just too tired. The juggling of a career, elderly (unwell) parent, teenage children, home (2), hounds, cats feels a bit much at the moment. Apologies for whining and I know it will pass. Like many, I'd love to wake up in a morning and choose what to do, instead of running around at 100 mph. All first world problems I appreciate. We have food, clothing, a roof over our heads. It's just the never endingness I am battling with.
Sorry for wallowing, I'm going to make breakfast and get ready for work.
Have a good day, Tilly2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Morning, we have been so fortunate with the weather, apart from Saturday morning, it's been a sunny weekend.
Life is getting back to normal. Decorating is finished, all rooms bar one are back to normal. The remaining one will be sorted next weekend.
We have worked so hard we had a TA the other evening. All enjoyed the treat and then back to home cooked meals.
SW free food chicken hot pot for dinner. It's in the SC ready to go.
PC survey in the bag and no other money news.
Roll on the weekend.

Hello,
I do fully appreciate what you say about neverendingness. The silly thing is that if we really want to change our lives we can do it. I know that if I really don't want to work I can downsize the house and the surplus would keep us going until my pension kicks in. But I don't want to!! I want to keep my house and no doubt you do too. And there is the problem.... Like you say, we are so lucky and blessed that it seems wrong to moan, but I think that if any moaning is to be done, this is the safest and kindest place to do it. I hope you get your Christmas mojo back though, what will the family think?!
All the best,
Squirrel xPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Thanks Squirrel, it's good to know people understand
Morning, I have reached the conclusion that I'm being a miserable old bag and need to buck my ideas up.
Tonight will see me making dinner for this evening and tomorrow. I can drop DS off tomorrow evening, get on a call but after that have a long soak in the bath
Work is mental, house is tidy with one room to do on Friday night. We are devoting Saturday morning to DS and taking him and the hounds on a walking adventure :T
Payday will soon be here and we are happy with the way the mortgage is going. You often see 'this is a marathon not a sprint' and I think that's what has been frustrating me over the last week or so. I completely appreciate and understand how fortunate we are to have cleared as much as we have. I also appreciate that we will be done by mid next year, but as it comes to the third anniversary of having a diary, it makes you think about your past and sheer stupidity. You also see how close but yet so far you are. However, come summer next year we will be done. That's a huge thing for my brain to process.
Great advice from some very wise people has been a huge bonus from this forum.
Right, I'd better get a move on.
Best wishes Tilly x2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:
