  • Hi Tilly, it's Thistle,

It's good to be back on the forums again. I've been away too long. Glad to see you're all still here!

The summer for me has been rather pants and very busy and I lost sight of my goals, but now I'm back. I'm taking some advice you gave me way back when, and focusing on my credit card debts before my mortgage, so I'm spending my time on the Debt Free Wannabe board rather than this one.
I'll be popping in from time to time though if that's ok.

    Best wishes,

    Thistle :)

Hi Tilly - well done on the recognition awards -I am sure they are much deserved by you :)

I think we all have 'argh' moments when things seem hard - and you really do juggle a lot of stuff, so these moments are perfectly acceptable!

As to what has already happened - we cannot change what is in the past (sadly no Dr Who and TARDIS to help us!) but what we can do (and I think we've all shown that we can by being on here) is learn from the past and move forward with our gained knowledge xxx

I understand what you say about reflecting on the past.

I don't exactly regret anything that I've done, but I wish that I'd adopted a MFW lifestyle, 20 or 30 years ago.

I know I'm in a very fortunate position , but I keep thinking that I could have done so much more.

But the past is done, so I try not to dwell on it.

It can feel like a slog sometimes, but time goes quickly, and you'll be where you want to be, very soon.

  • Morning Thistle, lovely to see you back. You will feel renewed once the CC has gone :)

Feel free to pop in whenever you're passing.

I've had a right old grump on, over the last few weeks but it is gradually passing. Mr T and I have found some time to catch up but life seems to race by at such a pace, there are times when I feel I'm hanging on by the fingertips.

I'm going to check my bank and see if I can tidy any money away.

    Best wishes Tilly x

  • Morning HDK, there's a ton of stuff going on at the moment at work. It seems to have turned into 'Every man for himself' which drives me mad. Which means being recognised is quite surprising. I will just be waiting for bonus day though. That's the only recognition I'm really interested in these days. I did though, appreciate the fact that what I do, adds value.

My diet and exercise has gone to pot this week. I had plans for the gym but they won't happen. Normality should return next week.

Hope your 1/2 marathon plans are going well. You have my utmost respect.

  • Morning Greent and GoldieGirl, I'm guessing it is human nature to berate ourselves occasionally. Whilst I don't regret what we did, I do wish I'd 'grown up' earlier ;)

I normally count my blessings frequently but I've had to remind myself over the last couple of weeks how *****dy fortunate we are.

Thankfully this is passing and although I feel fairly weary, I'd challenge anyone to fit in the amount of stuff I do, and not feel weary (at my age )

I've also realised that the weather changing has had a profound impact. The darker mornings and evenings are most unwelcome at the moment. However, I know that this is fairly short lived, as once DS leaves home, we will have moved abroad :).

A very sensible person once said that they wanted to 'run towards, not run away from' and I completely understand that. The pull of living in our other home is overwhelming at times.

Right, I'm in danger of waxing lyrical so need to do a quick update and get to work.

  • Morning, H@lifax shuffle done and OPd.

I need to collect up the loose change and pay that into the bank on Saturday. I don't think there will be much, but better offset than sitting in pots at home.

DS is out this evening and I was going to the gym. Unfortunately I have to join a call (remind me never to work for a US company again). To 'spice things up', I thought I'd drop DS off, fill a bowl with water and have a pedicure whilst on the phone :). My feet can have a good old soak, no one can see me and I can moisturise and relax. That's the plan, will have to see how that plays out.

Dinner this evening is chorizo and chickpea soup with HM rolls (thank you freezer). It's already made and will be filling and warming. It's a quick night as I have to take DS out early.

What other news: mum is making plans ready to move in for the winter again. This will remove a lot of worry.

This time last year he was applying for jobs and now he's working hard - work is definitely not just about the money.

DD is sticking with her food budget and seems to be having free meals at least three times a week due to activities she's doing. :money:

That's all for now. I'd better hurry up and get to work.

    Best wishes Tilly x

Your DD sounds a very sensible young lady, Tilly - mind you, I'd expect no less from a Tilly offspring! :)

This time of year is always a bit glum-inducing, I also find. The chill, the gloom, the damp. Other than Xmas (and DD's bday just before) I'm happy to skip straight to Jan - at least then you know the days are getting longer and the weather is usually 'properly' cold, as opposed to just drearily damp x

How old's DS? - Just wondering what your timescale for moving o/seas is x

  • Hi Greent, DS is in year 11 and depending upon results could go one of three ways - college, sixth form or military.

I don't think we would disappear next year but I think it's very unlikely we will be living in the UK in 3 years time. Once we make our decision about renovation/rebuild (we have plans now) we would want to be over there project managing it ourselves. (That would be Mr Ts domain).

There has been much discussion about life, mid life discussions, and what we want to do/achieve. Who knows where it will take us :)

Right, I'd better take DS out, then get back and do my feet whilst on a call. The beauty of remote working.
