    Greying, if you want a slow cooker, it's on of Al*i's special's tomorrow[sunday] £13 and it look's like it's a decent size.
Hope you don't mind me posting on your thread Tilly.
I don't mind at all, the more the merrier. That's a really good price and I'll definitely be popping in today topic, one up :)
boultdj - bless you for thinking of me! However, I don't have a SC, as I've never really got on with them with our veggie diet. When DP and I were first together, we had one that an elderly aunt had given to him. It was a *top of the range* at the time, but would you believe that you couldn't remove the crock from the electrical bit to wash it  I used it several times to cook meat when we were entertaining meat-eaters, but never used it for our own meals.

However, I know that a lot of MSE'rs have them, so thought I'd mention that the chilli could be cooked in one.

Sorry for my hijack post Tilly - but you have such kind, thoughtful folk visiting your thread :D And I wanted to reply to boultdj - hope you don't mind :)

    Hi all..
Just doing this SC thing to death.. if you don't want to spend money on the SC itself or indeed leccy, insulating the pot works just as well. The HM version of the pricey Wonderbag is what I am now evangelical about ;) We have bought one, but Elaine Colliar has a sewing pattern you could purchase (£3?) We bought a finished one via a lovely MSE lady via her site who is a handy seamstress (and I am not :rotfl:).

Yes to the soup and actually with my recent ham and split pea soup which was SO yummy I didn't even need to whizz it up afterwards..we were just ladling out of the crock.

GP..can't we even tempt you into veggie tagines in a SC? So good to come home too? ;);)

Sorry to hijack Mrs T..but in our defence, we are talking about food :)

Hope everyone has a great day

  • Hi Brizzle, I feel as though life is speeding at the moment. DD moves next Saturday and after doing some decorating for the following two weekends, I can see that life will become more peaceful.

I can safely say I'm looking forward to the middl of October. All the main jobs will be done by then, DD ill bewail be settled and we can have a few weeks of plodding before Christmas.

Hope all is well with you. I'm really behind on catching up with diaries but that want be happening this week. Our house looks like a bomb has gone off

  • I remembered something else! If DD had her immunisations at her schools then phone her GP to make sure they got added to her medical records. If not then you'll need to contact your LHA to get the dates and then get the GP to add them. Me and my Mum didn't know my GP didn't have my immunisations on record, so when my records were transferred to the university GP and they saw I was missing my jabs they told me to either get the dates or come back to be turned in to a human hedgehog :( The university policy even stated that I could potentially be suspended without a valid Meningitis C vaccine (I think it was C, definitely some kind of meningitis) even if I wanted to decline everything else, so my Mum had to phone around various LHAs (my Primary school and Secondary school were with one LHA, my Middle school was with a different one) to get the dates!

Luckily I'd had everything I needed, including the Meningitis C, so I just handed over the dates and all my records were updated by my new GP, but it was a massive hassle dealing with it and my Mum spent several hours on the phone tracking it all down DX

Greying, can understand where your coming from, but I'm lucky in that my bowl's have alway's come out to wash, and I love doing my vegtable soup in it.

  • Hi Britishbibliophile, huge thanks for the advice, I've got her red book, so will dig it out and check the dates.

Boultdj, many thanks for the advice, I've bought two slow cookers - one for my aunt, and one for DD. Plus they had a hand blender which I picked up as well.

Thank you SO much for posting :)

  • Morning, it's been a frenetic weekend and the thought of working all week is a bit

Roast spatchcocked chicken and veg for dinner - simple and delicious.

I'm making a tortilla for tonight and will serve with roast tomatoes and garlic. That will use up the LO veg.

We really have to update the financials but I don't see we will have time until after DD has left. I guess that way, we will be kept occupied by catching up on stuff, instead of mooning around :o

Food shopping has been ok in terms of food for the week. My tactical WR shop was expensive but my larder is well and truly stocked up. Plus everything purchased was on an offer, which when the discount is applied means I have many bargainous items in stock

    Best wishes, Tilly

  • Morning Tilly, hope this week isn't too difficult between work and DD leaving, remember it's what you all want and you have prepared her so well.
Will be odd for DS being the only one left having been the little brother for all his life:eek:.

I remember starting at uni and arrived the day before in my ancient car. I was so tired having driven (9hours) and found the halls (time before sat nav and mobiles!) that i asked the first girl i saw in the car park if she would help me with my stuff. We are still best friends 28 years later:D

  • hi Tilly,

do you think the SC from A*di would be big enough for a family of 4 - I was looking at it yesterday and couldn't decide if it would be big enough for us. I have wanted a SC for ages but have a very small kitchen atm but moving early next year so will have more space then. Don't want to buy one that's too small for us, so thought I would ask your "expert" opinion,

    thanks
