Now this is one just for proper chefs...
You get one tin of value pre peeled spuds (15p from Mr T - Bargain!)
If you are posh like me, you open the tin and stick the whole thing in the aga
If you aren't posh then you can microwave them or stick them on the hob..
Drain
Mash with a fork (they aren't 'real potatoes' so don't need an actual masher) and stick in loads of butter. Grated cheese and salt is also a must if this is for a hangover
Get 2 massive bits of white bread (because its healthier) and spread with lots of butter
And here's the challenge....
You now need to fit the entire mix in the bread. This needs to have a delicate touch because you don't want to squidge it all over the edges. Same applies when eating!!
Enjoy
:D:D
Sounds far better than a pot noodle which is the normal hangover cure :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Can we help name them, can we, can we, can we :j:j:j::
If you are looking for names Tilly could I suggest those of the chickens in Peppa Pig? They are Jemima, Vanessa, Sarah and Neville :rotfl:. The last one always tickles me! Sarah must be a particularly chickeny name as that's what my son and his peers decided to name one of their school chickens

Morning RoaringTwenties, a chicken called Neville would be quite interesting

I haven't seen PeppaPig, my kids were TellyTubby generation so I may need to take a look on youTube - I feel ridiculously excited that he has 'sort of' agreed.

Hi Tilly
Have been lurking since I last posted.
What great news that you will be getting some chickens - we have a smallholding so if you need any advice let me know.
When we had pet chickens in our garden (we also had about 50 on the land who were for laying eggs to sell) we gave them chickeny names:
Tikka
Cassie (Casserole)
Hotpot
or name for their colour, we also have the Lohman Browns (good egg layers):
Nutmeg
Paprika
:rotfl:
We also had one called Prawn Cracker because her comb was massive and curled down:rotfl:0 -
Morning Eager_Elephant
Thanks for de-lurking
I will definitely be taking you up on the advice offer - thank you
Sadly we won't be having them in this country so I have time to plan but even he is talking about them now. I'm slightly worried about our hounds and how they will react, but who knows what the future holds.
Stop by more often

Morning, hounds walked and they loved it. We all went and I'm sure the dogs enjoyed having us all together. They were running all over the place and rounding us up if we split too far apart. Funny to watch. We tend to leave them off the leads for a good run, then put them on the leads for walking. I worry that people will see two large dogs running towards them and freak out
Shopping list ready and joint of pork defrosting for tomorrow.
Menu plan this week:
Sweet potato pasties, with a large salad (WR mag)
Chicken casserole with dumplings (WR mag)
Pulled pork served with mushroom risotto -JO saver
Onion and potato tortilla, HM burgers for kids, lentil burgers for me
SW carbonara
I'm making minestrone soup and butternut squash soup to have for lunches next week. Moroccan roasted veg soup is on the list as well but maybe not this week.
Cheese and bacon muffins, scones - making these today as the kids are off school still - will freeze in bags
I have a swede to use up and will do Crispy Swede bake - swede, garlic, chives, cream (creme fraiche), a little butter - cook swede, mash, add other ingredients, throw in to oven proof serving dish, sprinkle liberally with breadcrumbs, bake for 20 mins. I'll serve this with the pork tomorrow night.
Today will mostly consist of gardening and cooking :j

Hi Tilly, I was going to say well done on escaping what I call the tyranny of Peppa Pig but then the Teletubbies aren't much better are they?! In fact I'm slightly alarmed that my iPhone recognised 'Teletubbies' & spellchecked it for me - the dratted things get everywhere :rotfl:. Good luck if you do check Peppa out on YouTube, hope it doesn't scar you for life
And good luck (or should that be good cluck? Sorry, couldn't resist
) with the chickens too, I seem to know loads of people who have them & really enjoy keeping them
All best

Tilly how do you do SW carbonara?0

Hi Tilly, took my mum to see Miranda in Leeds a couple of weeks ago. She loved it. Who knew! Personally, I only found parts of it entertaining, as my sense of humour is drier than hers. Glad you and the kids enjoyed it though.
Your menus are fabulous. What I don't understand are the acronyms at the end, such as WR, JO, SW?

Here we go:Alchemilla wrote: »Tilly how do you do SW carbonara?
Fry light
1 red onion, finely chopped
120g lean ham (I'm using the remains from a gammon at xmas)
1 large garlic clove, crushed/grated
240g dried spaghetti
3 large egg yolks (I freeze the whites until we do a pavlova)
250g pot quark
Salt and pepper
Small handful finely chopped parsley
Parmesan (optional)
Heat frying pan, sprayed with Fry Light
Cook red onions gently for 10 mins
Add ham, garlic and fry for a further 2 mins
In the meantime cook spaghetti. While that's cooking make the sauce - mix egg yolks, quark, seasoning in a bowl
Drain spaghetti, reserve some cooking liquid. Return spaghetti to pan, stir in sauce and ham mixture, adding about 85ml of the cooking liquid to loosen the sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan if using (1.5 syncs per level tsp), or use 28g as a Healthy Extra A choice. Garnish with parsley
