OMG I've just seen a garlic recipe to fight colds and there are 13 cloves in a soup to feed 2

May have to work from home if I'm cooking that :rotfl:

Sounds like a tasty soup though

I went to work once, came back and my OH had made a 2 litre pot of curry with 3 bulbs of garlic.

Didn't really know what to say to that...

Good morning, :j it's Friday :j. First full time week of the year almost finished.

Shopping list ready for tomorrow, I had a small spend of £1.65 yesterday as Mr T needed some single cream but apart from that the plan is working. I have a list for tomorrow, I won't buy everything as its my list of what I am running low on, ready for February. I'll just buy the essentials. When I started this mad challenge I did question whether it was possible, but it will be. I am guessing that Saturday's spend will be about £7.50 ish, so over the £5, but comfortably under the £10 :T

    This is day 18 and only £6.25 + £1.65 spent. £7.90 :):)

    Fantastic.

  • In an effort to be more frugal, I made my own hollandaise sauce on Wednesday evening - came out great, no more packets of ready made sauce for me. However, I attempted to make meringues with the leftover egg whites. They were a bit of disaster - brown, deflated, marshmallowy eggy nasty - Fail.

  • Try the Mary Berry or Delia pavlova recipes - they are good and have consistent results :)

I've never tried HM hollandaise - I always thought it would be difficult :)

  • Hi LauraJo, making it for lunch tomorrow so will let you know. DH and DD have both come down with colds and feeling sick, there really are some horrible bugs around at the moment.

  • Aww dear... a poorly sick Tilly family -probably best you all get it together though.

I did the easy/cheat version without a bain-marie. Was delish and allowed me to make just the right quantity. Will defo be making again - then I can try your recommended meringue recipes!

Evening, these antibiotics are fab - for all those who don't believe in them, apologies but they have really helped. What with those and steroids, I should be pumping iron :rotfl:

DD managed to get to school for her AS exam today, then came home, had a bath and went to bed. Hopefully, with a day off from work tomorrow she will back to normal soon.

This no spending means there's little activity in the bank, but I have received £10 TCB payout so will be oping that.

    Ready for shopping tomorrow :)

Pitta breads filled with grated carrot, salad (before it dies from the cold we are due to have - I use cloches so it has lasted well), chicken and peppers for dinner.

Tomorrow is a little weird on the food front, I have sausage meat to use up so am considering little patties with onion, loads of fresh sage (frozen) then serving with the rest of the salad and HM potato wedges.

Medicine ball exercise done today and my back is definitely freeing up, if that makes sense :T

MRN, can I have the recipe for easy hollandaise as I've never heard of that - I'd like to try with some salmon from the freezer. Will need changing my menu plan  but I like change so that's ok.

I am feeling so much better now - it's great to feel my energy levels getting back to normal.

Ironing on the list for first thing tomorrow.

    Night, Tilly
