I think I may have worked out Tilly's extreme grocery saving HDK. She does go through rather a lot of lodgers don't you think? I don't wish to cast aspersions, but just saying........:D

Hi HKD, can I freeze pasta that way - it's never crossed my mind. I do freeze lasagne.

That would be a great idea for kids and my lunches.

I freeze pasta all the time.
I make huge vats of pasta bolognese or pasta twirls with chicken & a tomatoey sauce and freeze in individual portions for work lunches. I also chick in onions, mushrooms, peppers, carrotts etc to bulk it out (diet friendly) and to get the veg in. I also do risotto portions for lunches.

The bags I use were sold in Aldi a few months ago, they were zip lock bags and are fantastic. Re-usable. The only problem is the bolognese colouring does stain them so I try to keep the bolognese'y bags separate to the risotto'y bags but it doesn't really matter.

I would suggest cooking your pasta slightly under as it cooks it a bit more when heating up in microwave. Although for a lunch slightly mushy pasta isnt really the end of the world!

I think I would offer someone 10% of my eBay money to do the damned thing for me tbh

It's been a long long standing argument between hubby and I

So relieved to find somebody else who feels like this. I've felt like that for a long time.

Thing is I've offered the 10% to a friend that is in dire need of money ( even more so than me) and I said to her look I have loads of stuff here I want rid of you can do eBay ( she has sold on it previously) you do my ebaying and of any money I make apart from p&p you can get a percentage for ... I even went as high as 25% and she wouldn't take me on lol
  • Hi MRN, your picture made me roar with laughter :rotfl:

Lois/El, I absolutely agree about eb@y, it drives me mad but needs must and all that.

AJ, we can share the eb@y pain this weekend

LauraWaxx, I never thought of freezing portions of pasta type dishes for lunch at all. I do make soup and if there's any left I freeze. That's an excellent idea and I will do some the next time I'm cooking pasta, thanks.

LauraJo, Mr T has picked my cold up now so garlic soup sounds like a plan. I have loads left from the garden so could give that a go. Will get g@@gling the recipe :)

  • OMG I've just seen a garlic recipe to fight colds and there are 13 cloves in a soup to feed 2

May have to work from home if I'm cooking that :rotfl:

Sounds like a tasty soup though
