Hi Radish and Ammonite, fab meal and beer, wine plus home made ice cream for half time :T. As we both have connections and relationships with Germany and Portugal its difficult to know who to support so we are going with both - whoever wins is fine with us.

Tilly - I think for once I might be awake before you

Football was quite good - Germany/Portugal wasn't the best game, found it a bit *yawn* . Holland/Denmark was good though!
Have a good day

Goodness Ammonite, couldn't you sleep? It's sunny here and DH is pushing me to go for a dog walk. I think a second cup of tea is required :T
I agree abut the footie, but sadly we missed the Holland/Denmark one

Good morning, sun is out, still a watery grey looking sky but better to wake to this than rain. Even managed to sit outside yesterday evening and have a beer before the footie.
Not sure what happened with the footie as it all seemed too defensive in the first half and too safe. Good family night though.
Have managed to persuade DH not to have an early walk, as we are volunteering today, we can take the dogs and do both at once. :T
Pay day is just over a week from now and it can't come soon enough. Lodger money will be in on Monday so I will switch that to the CC pot. It's great to know that it is all off set. I've found FD to be very professional and fab customer service. All cards are locked away now that the major spending is finished.
Payday will see the overall mortgage debt (taking offset into consideration) drop below £268k. Then I am £18k off the next goal. I have some catch up to do given the home improvements. £1500 deficit at the moment which will prevent me hitting the £250k goal by Ssptember. Not sure I can bridge that gap by then, so may have to accept that October will be the new goal. Next major goal is £225k as that was the previous highest mortgage we had ever had. We would have achieved that by February 2013, but again it may slip to March. As I haven't taken any salary or bonus payments into consideration though, I should be able to catch up early in 2013.
Off to do some ironing now and then off volunteering for a couple of hours. I made dinner yesterday for this evening so it makes for an easy day.
I need to plant a few more bits in the garden - radish, lettuce etc. plus I have a garden pot to paint. If the weather stays like this, then it could be finished today.

Really glad it's been a quietish day. The pot is painted and the veg planted. I have had a major wobbly day but having kept this diary for a few months now, I recognise that this happens occasionally. It's the knowledge that we have to stick to the plan, but stick to it we will.
April 2016 is not that far away and we have a mountain to climb between now and then, but by the time our youngest is 17 in May 2016, we will be MF :j. Hard to believe it will ever be gone, but we have the opportunity to make different choices then. We have made a big decision about our future as well and will be coming up with a plan to introduce some energy efficient solutions to our home in Portugal, along with a fab kitchen. It will require some cash but a manageable amount, which we can save and have done sooner rather than later. By that I mean probably 2017/2018 so still a few years, but fits in well with kids, work, early retirement perhaps
.
Off now to have a soak in the bath and an early night

Hi Tilly.
I've been reading your posts for a few weeks now and your posts are really motivating.
You seem to accomplish so much and are focused on what your goal is. :j
You're doing a great job with everything. You seem to have the garden sorted along with the salad vegetables. I'd love to grow some vegetables but we have grass at the back and plants at the front, although the front is a bit like a wilderness.
Never enough time to get all the jobs done we would like to, as myself & DW work full time and have to commute.
Take care and have a good week.

Hi Bonnington, please don't ever think we are perfect, far from it. I tend to run on overdrive much of the time, so I whizz along then need to catch up and rest. That's what this weekend has been about.
Having a goal has helped keep me on track. Many people will say goals are wrong and we should do what our heart tells us to do, or just live every day, but that doesn't work for us. Mr Tilly and I are determined to be shot of this millstone and the sooner the better. We are both fortunate to have good jobs, but we don't take it for granted like we used to.
Thanks for stopping by it is really appreciated. How about popping some salad leaves in with your plants in the front garden. Some of the frothy salad leaves look fab and then you can grow some stuff which would save you at least £. Wikinso&s have good veg seeds, don't cost a lot and for the cost of a packet, you could pick most days of the week for weeks. Saves us quite a bit but we do tend to have salads most days. I often serve them as a mini starter or on a side plate, helps get DS and DH to eat more veg
, always a battle with DS.

Morning, I thought I would have to use the lodger money for CC. As the DD had gone out overnight, I have paid lodgers money off the mortgage :j
I love knowing I am chipping away at it. In the meantime, all debit cards and CC are still locked away and not being used. I have started a spending diary again to keep an eye on any small spends as they mount up.
Home made pizza for dinner with salad from the garden. That will finish off another section which can be weeded and reseeded again. Considering we mainly use smallish raised beds they are very productive.
I am planning a trip out on Saturday morning to a town which is more up market than where we are. CS hunt for eldest child entering 6th form in September. Much discussion about what to wear so I thought lets check out what's on offer.
