Evening, given my fiscal fast need for June, I popped to MrT and fell upon the most bargainous goodies ever. My freezer has fillet steak, chicken, mince, pork and the list goes on. I have never been there before when they reduce the reduced but certainly was this evening. I think I may have offended some of the regular lurkers but I just got chatting to the assistant who was marking down and he kept reducing and I popped them into the trolley. I didn't empty the fridge, plenty for everyome, not sure what happened to their stock control but there was a ton of stuff he reduced. One very happy Mr and Mrs Tilly. Will amend my menu plan to include some of the new freezer stock :T

Salad leaves planted on Saturday are now 1cm - planted 5 days only. I can't remember salad growing quite that quickly before. Looking good for picking in 3 weeks ish for young leaves :)

We have had masses of rain today from mid afternoon and then again this evening and the air smells so fresh - I love this time of year.

I have some washing to get through tomorrow and will only be working from home for half a day, so I had best get stuck in early on the washing front. One load is on a timer ready to hang out first thing.

    Best wishes Tilly x

Very funny!!! :rotfl: Thanks for the tip, the first one does sound much more interesting!

I got the freezer Tilly. It has been really useful and we are on holiday from Friday but taking two lots of frozen goodies with us to cut costs and to cut time cooking. I love good food but on hol I never feel like slaving over a hot stove.

Basically I am (sadly:o) delighted as it has saved both time and money so all good. I need to restock though and stop hosting so many barbecues!

All good apart from that, but been very busy so I am really looking forward to a holiday. Money is looking better than it has I just have to keep credit cards under control whilst on hol next week! I really need to keep an eye on my food bill this month, shouldn't be too many other spends. (I always say that!)

  • Morning SJ, glad to hear the freezer is working out well. Good plan to take some frozen food with you. Enjoy the break and hope the CC spend is ok :)

Morning, a much cooler start to the day. Air is lovely and fresh though :)

Washing is on the line and I need to iron a few bits before heading to the office.

I have checked the bank accounts and no major news. Apart from bargainous shopping last night which topped the freezer up, only minimal shopping to be done over the next few weeks. We will be living on salads from the garden :T.

Patience is not my strong point and I know I just have to get through until June payday when I can get back to normal OPs. Since November last year we have been very careful about our spending so I do feel like we have gone backwards a bit. Not true as we are not overdrawn and had saved for the work done but regardless those numbers need to fall, otherwise I will be working until I'm 70

Have a lovely day, Tilly x

Morning, Tilly. It is always wonderful to get these YS goodies when you have lots of freezer space. Also, as far as I am concerned, it gives me the opportunity to experiment with new recipes and food combinations. :-)

For salads, I bought 2 Sutton's windowsill propagators with seeds from MrT for a bargainous price of £1.24 last weekend. So, looking forward to growing my own salad leaves inside the kitchen.

    Have a good day!

Well done on the whoopsie haul :D

As you said, you haven't gone backwards - but I agree that it is frustrating sometimes when OPs take a back seat for other work - I want the work done but the OPs not to be affected!

  • Hi US, well done on the propogator, I use them to start all my chilli and tomato seeds - fab price :)

Evening Greent, that is exactly how I feel - I have cake and eat it syndrome :rotfl: However, all jobs finished and looking good so that's a result.

Roll on end of June when we can start again. Sorry sounds like I am wishing my life away, we will be having loads of fun in the meantime just free :j

    Hi Tilly

That haul was something else! Is there a particular time and day or is it just luck? I did see some massive pieces of roast port reduced to literally 50p but that is it!!

I am planning to live on cash next week and try not to use the cards.... Packing tomorrow!!

  • Hi SJ, bargainous shopping seems to luck to me. I am sure some guys know when the stores reduce but I never seem to time it right. I was shopping at about 7pm though if that helps. It was great picking up so much though.

Good luck with the cash next week, sounds like a good plan.
