Afraid not. Employer will try and respect pre-booked holidays (so most do for full time jobs) but is not obliged to.Hi Tilly,
If DD gets a job, once she has secured the job, she can state that she has holidays already booked for Christmas and I'm almost sure they are obliged to honour them.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.1 -
Morning, on the DD front, we have decided to wait and see if she gets a Saturday job before booking flights. Given this year has been the worst on record for holidays (lack), due to GCSEs, kids activities, then we may as well go all out and see if she secures a job. Also having the same debate about the summer - should we, shouldn't we - it would mean I can OP the vacation savings pot
. Every cloud has a silver lining......
I am ironing for England straight after this, DH is in cooking frenzy mode, the dogs are walked and DC still fast sleep. You can't beat the UK when the weather is like this. Looking forward to the next celebration this afternoon.
Have a good day and no major money updates to come now until almost end of June. Soon be back to über frugalness as we continue the big push to £250k. It still seems a long way off but it's good to know that around this time next year, the mortgage will begin with a 1 :j:j:j:j. Still mahoosive I know as it would only be a few £ off £200k, but it will be £1........ which will be another step in the right direction.

Even if the mortgage is 199,999.99 is still starts with a 1 so in my head its a lot less than £200K. The shops do it the other way with their prices ending in .99 so why not
How about keeping the vacation pot and rolling it over to next year for a super fab holiday, think of all that money sitting in the bank not being used for an OP :eek:Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Morning Radish, absolutely agree. Hard to believe that we will achieve this by May/June 2013, but I will believe the spreadsheets.
Hope all is going well for you. Best wishes Tilly x2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

How beautiful to wake up to the sun. I know the weather is due to break soon but we have certainly made the most of it :T
DH and I are catching up on receipts this evening, DKs are off out so we have a little peace to do some paperwork. I also have two tasks to do which I needed to complete last week, but will do this morning. Working in the office so will miss the chance to iron on a couple of calls I have scheduled.
Have a good week all - we are living off the leftovers of the weekend for as long as possible this week, along with bits from the freezer. A mini fiscal fast I guess, as I have not shopped for this week. Will need to check the menu plan as well.

Change of plan, decided to work from home and all ironing is now finished
:)
Going to look at the paperwork quickly and see what can be completed before a 9am call - fingers crossed.

Morning, given the few weeks of highish spending, we are now in major lock down. Credit cards hidden away, cash in emergency purse. We finished the financials yesterday and have a list of vouchers to use up for fuel, money off etc, and I won't be printing any SSM vouchers until after next pay day. All should be OK but we don't run into OD anymore (thanks :money:) and I don't want to move money into current account. It's off set so I know I can if required, but would prefer to be disciplined and control spending.
End of May has caught me unawares as it only seems the other day that I planned the menu and now it's time to start again  that's my job for this evening. Freezer is still well stocked but as I want it empty for another function later in June, we do need to chomp through the contents.
Off for a dog walky/run then sadly into the office - first call is 8am so need to get a move on.
I did manage to get the remaining winter coat washed and dried on the line yesterday.
The air smells glorious today and the breeze is coolish. My peach tree is fruiting so I am hoping they don't drop. We will certainly be eating home grown potatoes soon, only grown in bags so don't take up much room. Peas are shooting and raspberry bushes and strawberry plants have loads of flowers. All looking good. Sadly one of my blueberry bushes has died - so easy to grow but I have had this one the longest and it's given up the ghost. Fortunately I have two bigs pots with 3-5 plants between them so I don't think I will need to replace it.
As June has to be an almost fiscal fast for the month, I will have to make the most of my joy in gardening and cooking, rather than money switching. Lodgers money will stay in the bank account this month rather than being OPd. Do remind me that it's only 1 month like this then back to normal from payday in June. It's a little disheartening to know I can't OP as much but we had always known May was going to be a bad month. Batten down the hatches, live off the garden, freezer, larder and enjoy the weather.
Best wishes Tilly x
