I think sazzy already mentioned the old fella wasn't insured?
That's correct, due to his age. I'ts hard to remember what's been mentioned as the thread is now so long.

I've spent the last couple of hours going through "How to find a lost dog" threads, both UK and USA sites. It appears that sazzy has covered it all.

One of the most encouraging things, is apparently a dog won't keep walking in a direct line. They adopt a triangular patch.
I have no idea how big the caravan site is, but it would be good if a concentrated search could be made by a few people at once. If Rory is sheltering under the vans, moving from one to the next, it's an impossible task for one person alone.
He must also be getting food, so is there a chip shop or takeaway nearby? The shower block has been checked I imagine.
One thing I saw, was not to rely on phoning rescues. They need to be visited in person. So anyone wanting to help could be responsible for the one closest to them.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself, just feel so desperate for them both.

We're all desperate now, just to see him home. I can't imagine how sazzy hasn't collapsed under the strain. How can a big dog just so completely disappear?

Are there any sheds on the caravan park that haven't been checked? Any housebound people in the area who live alone and may be unaware of this search for Rory and perhaps looking after him? Or even deliberately keeping him?

Is there anyone with a sniffer dog in the area who'd be willing to help? Sazzy said the forestry people got involved - what are they actually doing? If Rory's in the woods, it's a needle in a haystack thing unless the forestry people have a search method that usually gets results, maybe like those thermal imaging night sight binoculars?

    Still not home :(

I've been hesitating to post this as I don't want to add to OP's distress, but are there any farms nearby? If so it would be worth ringing (or visiting) the farmer and giving him your phone numbers. We have several sheep farms round us and visiting dogs are most definitely unwelcome, a word to the farmer beforehand might prevent a tragic incident.
Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.

Sorry everyone, was out down the park again having a look. I'll be going back down again at dusk, just to sit quietly and see if he comes anywhere near-if, indeed, it was him. But it's just something I've got to do.

The local farmers have been alerted thistle, there's so many round here. He's not at the local kennels either- had a look.

There were so many people down there today, we covered the whole park between us, what an amazing bunch of people! (as are you MSEers :o)

The park is closed so no takeaways nearby..we're fast running out of options. But I'll be down there later, with a pillow of ours and his own toys.

    Aileen

    xx

I don't know if this would be worth a try, or what the weather's like with you. How about taking the dust from the vacuum and putting it in a few spots? I'm wondering if he smells home, then he'll stay close to it. You could then keep a check on the places where you put the dust.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

What about canals? Maybe canal boat owners could be alerted? Here we have one running though the country park, i'm sure people travelling in those may be of use

I've been thinking of the Canal for a few days myself, but ive been too worried to mention it to Sazzy, because as we all know, parts of Canals can have high straight sides which makes it extremely difficult for anything to climb out if they are unfortunate enough to fall in ... Sazzy, im really sorry for putting this thought in your head, and I was going to mention it weeks down the line if you still hadn't found your Rory ... But lets all think positive and im sure he positive will happen ... I really have this feeling, that as he is such a lovely friendly boy, that someone kindhearted has taken him in and is spoiling him to bits!
Some days I wake up Grumpy ... Other days I let him lie in.

Have you been in touch with The Metro newspaper http://www.metro.co.uk/home/9457-metro-our-editorial-policy-who-we-are-and-how-to-work-for-us, it's a freebie paper that's available all around the country, in Edinburgh and I'm sure in other towns and cities it's put in the buses, it covers local stories as well as national ones.

Great idea Kinski! The more publicity, the better. Has anyone else emailed the STV people as suggested by chris n tj? I did, but got no response.
