I too only wish I lived closer or could drive. I also think it'd be a huge coincidence for another lab to be out alone at 4:45am?? Plus often describe a dog but don't do so accurately. Around here seeing any dog alone at anytime day or night is unusual let alone the same breed as one known to be missing. I am really hoping he returns soon, he has to with everyone aware & searching. I can only imagine the distress you & Pup are feeling & my heart goes out to you both x

sazzy, he'll have found shelter, he wont be sitting out in the rain. Dog's instincts kick in when they dont have their home comforts around them and he'll have found a spot to stay in.

That's if he's out. I do think he's been taken in by someone.

I was driving North and stopped off at Morrisons in Alness. They must have had the Highland edition. I was in Inverness earlier, I wished I'd bought one there.

I too think he's been taken in but totally agree with the above; my own dog was a stray & it took them a week or so to catch her & it was also at this time of year - she was finally taken in on 2nd Nov - & she managed just fine. Don't give up x

I'm sorry- I'm really downhearted just now. It's started raining for the first time since Saturday, and he'll be miserable.

So sorry it wasn't him in the cemetary, what a let-down :(

Raining here today too, but at least that means it's not freezing. I don't know what to say, you must be utterly desperate :(

Best wishes from us and hope he is home soon.

Have you been able to search the fields and woodland inaccessible to cars in your area? Looking at the maps, you are surrounded by countryside and he could be anywhere in the fields. Have you spoken to local farmers/landowners?

Another idea, what about allotments? Do you have any close? Maybe you could put a poster up on the gates or speak to people there?

The only time I have found a dog wondering around was when on holiday In Scotland, he was running back and forth across a main road, I was worried he was going to be ran over so I got hold of him and luckily there was a mobile number on his disc. If I found a dog with no collar I would first of all go to our vet and see if he is chipped, if he wasn't (as long as he got on ok with my dog) I would hang onto him (he would be happier with us than sitting it out in a rescue centre) but I would call all the local vets and rescue centres and email them a scanned photo. It looks like this has not been done. It's been a few days now so it doesn't look as if someone has got him unless they are keeping him. If he is still roaming around on his own is he likely to find his way back? Our dog won't leave the house unless we are with him, if we go for awalk he rushes out but if we lag behind he runs back into the house to see what the hold up is.

  • Awwwwww hun ((((hugs)))) was so hoping it was him and he'd be home by now......

He'll be tucked up somewhere out of the rain or being pampered by someone who's taken him in.

Still early days, don't lose hope. I so wish I was nearer and could help:(. Honestly, with so many people worrying about him, shedding tears over him and looking for him .... he'll be found.

Zaksmum- yes, we've been all over. Half the problem is that we can't take cars down there, so we have to search when it's daylight. It's so pitch black down there.

Tiger-Yes, the allotment society have been alerted, and they know all about him. Everyone is scanning his picture and putting it all over the place.

Chuck-I don't know. It depends where he is. He could find his way back no problem from down the river, or at a stretch- the beach.

Whatever the news is, I just want him back. I want to know what's happened to him. The thought of never seeing him again, or knowing what happened to him just makes me want to curl up in a corner and shut the world out.
Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

This may not make sense but what about looking on a map & pinpointing everywhere that had firework displays that night as he probably ran away from all of those areas not towards them? Could help to give an idea of a direction he may have gone, though I realise they'd be going off all over from household displays also, just an idea.

I know, every morning (plus numerous other times) I check this thread to see if he has turned up. It leaves me feeling very down when I learn he is still missing, hopefully that will change soon (it's so frustrating not being able to anything).
