Do you walk anywhere on a regular basis ?
When Spot went missing we eventually found him in an area where we regularly walk him - I don't know how he got from where we lost him to where we found him but I would love to know.

All- thank you. We walked the old boy down the river and woods, and that's where all the searchers usually start- but there's been no sightings.
Sorry I haven't been posting- I've just had a really bad night for some reason, and been trying to occupy myself. Brought work home so have been doing that for a while with lots more to do.
Thanks again xRuaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

There are some webcams around Nairn, one is at the A96 Dalnies intersection and there's one over looking the golf links, and another at Sunny Brae Hotel. Might be worth us all checking those throughout the day just in case the little fella wanders past. Just put Nairn Webcams into the search.
Could any neighbours be asked about CCTV they might have? And there's a disused oil place on my Google Earth, and a few castles dotted around...have these been checked?
Are there any local hang gliding clubs or similar that could possibly have a look over the fields from the air?

I had another poke around online tonight, and there are two sets of Fire service search and rescue dogs near you, Sazzy, one in Elgin and the other in Inverness. Would it be worth giving them a ring to see if they can help as an exercise for the dogs? I'm sure it would be an interesting training exercise for them. Try them, they can only say no.
Failing that, do you know anyone with a scent hound, perhaps a bloodhound who could go out and scent for him?
((((Hugs to you )))), don't know how I'd be coping in your circumstances.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -
How is Rory's walking normally, sazzy? Does he have any arthritis or is he quite agile when it comes to, say, jumping over any obstacles? Would you say he'd be likely to stick to an easy to negotiate track or would he be able to get anywhere? My older dog would definitely stick to the easy path - this might help you with an idea of where he headed.
Would it be worth putting food scents on trees etc outside heavily wooded areas where he might be hiding, to entice him into the open, giving more chance of him being spotted? You know, like rubbing whatever food he likes on trees/lamp posts so he can get the scent of it?
We are all desperate to get him home safe and well now. Hope you're ok there...we're all thinking of you.0 -

To the rest here, I think you have come up with some great ideas that will be useful to any poor soul who's dog is missing in the future. Maybe a sticky in the future?
Let's get into sazz's old boy's head though if we can.
When Rory did this before , six years ago I think, he was still a young boy and was found eight miles from home. I daresay he thought it was a great adventure then.
This time though, is very different. He was scared suddenly and took off. I feel then that he wants to get home, but not too close, as that's where the scary thing happened to him. In his mind, the bang might be there again. So I really feel that he is close by, but too scared to take the last step home.
I hope I'm right and he's just around the corner.
My refresh button is worn out for news of him.0 -
Has anyone posted about him on Twitter?0

Thanks everyone for using up your precious spare time.
Mrs A, I'll have a call- they can only say no can't they?
Hee walks fine usually, he belts ahead of the pup, then takes a swan dive into the river. he can jump fences as well still even if they're not as high as they once were, and I'll try the food thing tomorrow- great idea! Thank you!
Padstow, I would hope so, but we've been right round this area, with no sign at all. We've called and called him to no avail-in all the areas we used to walk away from where the bangs were.
Think the sticky of ideas presented is brilliant! Although I hope it wouldn't happen to anyone on here ever.Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

I've been nosying online this evening and found this article:

One of the suggestions is to leave an article of clothing with your scent on it.0
