Well the main thing is that you did get him back.

    That's all that really matters.

Yes it is great that I have got him back but that is not all that matters is it?

It's certainly the most important thing.

Plenty of people whose dogs have gone missing would change places with you.

The question is who takes them in the first place?

Hatchette- don't you DARE use Ruaridhs thread for your own crusade. No-one took my boy-he bolted from me on fireworks night in 2011.

If someone took him in and loved him, and looked after him- then good.

Yes some dogs are stolen, but most of the dogs on DogLost are like mine- they ran off through an open gate or were spooked, or took off after a bird. They are a great set of people who work tirelessly to reunite dogs with their owners.

Going by your other threads, sweetheart, I think you need to see a doctor. And I really AM saying that in the nicest possible way!
Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

    Trust me, sazzy, I know.

You put your life on hold - every ounce of your energy and strength into your search for Ruaridh and would have done anything at all if you could have only had him home, to stroke and cuddle him and keep him safe.

If someone had been able to return him to you, you'd have been eternally grateful beyond words.

You certainly wouldn't have been mud slinging and raving God knows how many years down the line that you suspect he'd been stolen!

The safe return of a much loved missing dog is something to be truly thankful for as many of us know only too well.

Ruars, there was a dog lost not too far from me, he was missing for a while. He reminded me of you, a black Labrador with a grey muzzle, he was older than you though, 15 years old and deaf. His name was Oliver. He had a facebook campaign to find him. He was found but unfortunately he was dead, at least his family were able to have him back to say goodbye and bury him. This is what his dad wrote after he was found - Oliver died peacefully in a neighbouring farmers rape field roaming free. He is now at rest in the garden where he so loved to play. He has his toys with him and a nice quiet place to sleep. Run free lad we will always love you! On behalf of my family, myself and Oliver I wish to thank you all for the unbelievable support, your efforts and for helping spread the search for my old pal across the country and to the far side of the world. Oliver was one in a million, he was my pal and the love and support you have all shown will mean he has a place in history and all our hearts. Bless you all, you are all that is good with the world

    RIP Oliver 2014

Ruars, your family would have so loved to have known what happened to you, if you are still alive or at the bridge waiting for them. Maybe they will never know. Wherever you are, we all hope you are happy. If you are in another home, we hope you are being well looked after in your twilight years. Take care Ruars and be happy xx
The candle I've lit today is for Oliver as well as you, may he rest in peace. xx

Thank you DD. My heart goes out to them, and one day-maybe, we'll know what happened to Ruars.

I know eventually I'll see him again., ruffle those floppy ears and get a slobbery tongue stuck in my eye.

    RIP Oliver
