I think there are a lot of people from here who will always look at black labs and think about Ruars.

You know, that's true, but I hadn't realised it until you just said it.

    I always do-even young ones.

Funny thing is-Zelda hates them with a passion. It's very odd. She always goes off on one when she sees a black lab. Maybe because I make a fuss of them. She's such a diva!
Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

Can't believe it'll be two years this Bonfire Night.

You have been through the most dreadful time and will be in all our thoughts as the second anniversary approaches.

Like you, I hate the fireworks and the terror they bring to our poor dogs.

    Hope you're ok.

Thank you all so much. It's been a difficult few days, but I hope you don't mind me putting up what I posted on FaceBook last night. It says everything I want to say :)
I caused some controversy last year.. And a bit of an argument when I posted about private fireworks, calling them 'chavvy' and a couple of people left the group. After seeing the people with private fireworks round here again- I haven't changed my opinion. The amount of dogs missing already due to this ignorance is heartbreaking! I wouldn't wish the feeling of losing your beloved fur baby on ANYONE... The pain never leaves you. Two years ago on Tuesday, Ruaridhs Army was formed. Selfishly-I wish it was an Army that didn't exist and we had our old man home. BUT....Because of him, dogs have found forever homes. Owners have been reunited with their babies and we will still campaign tirelessly to ban private fireworks. We have made so many new friends and I wish we could thank you all personally for your continuing support and humanity. Aileen, Sean, Alan and Ross xxx

I'm not on Facebook sazzy so didn't see this.

I don't know about fireworks being chavvy. Some kids like them so parents will feel they have to get them.

My only concern is the state it reduces animals to.

My dog Lucy is an absolute wreck every year with the damn things. I can't do a thing to help or comfort her and if fireworks were banned tomorrow I'd be delighted.

It breaks my heart to hear of dogs like Ruaridh and the terror they must feel.

At this time of year he is very much on our minds, and of course you and your family too.

I'm not on facebook either so I don't see things posted there, in fact, I hardly ever come on here now. I am still think bout you though Sazzy and still lighting candles to light the old lad's way home. I wish we all knew what had happened to him. I know you think he is at the bridge and perhaps he is - none of us know - I would still love to think that someone has been taking good care of him, totally oblivious to the fact he has a home and one day he will come wandering back to you, looking for his dinner. It would be the best present for all of us as we all feel your pain. Take care of yourself Ruars, wherever you are. Still missed by your family.

  • Hi Sazzy .... sorry I don't get on here a lot now - it honestly doesn't mean that I don't think of you or your boy as, believe me, I often think of him.

    I can't believe it's been 2 years .....

Glad you're finding some peace and (((hugs))) for the next few days as I know they'll be hard for all the family xx

Like many of us my thoughts are with sazzy and her family tonight, the time has flown by. It only seems like yesterday to me and I must admitI shead a tear this afternoon for Ruaridh, and all the other lost souls out there tonight.

The sooner they ban bloody fireworks the better, if it was just for one evening then it wouldnt seem as bad, but they have been setting them off for weeks here.

My candle shines bright every Sunday evening, We wil never forget. xxx
