    Hi Aileen

It's toby's mum off facebook. I just wanted you to know that I often think of you and the heartache you've endured over Ruars going missing.

It does seem strange that other people can feel so strongly about what you are going through - it almost sounds like it couldn't be possible but it truly is. How can our hearts be so touched by someone we don't really know and have never met and whose dog we never met either.

I think it all comes to dog ownership - the complete bond you have with your dog and then imagining what you would feel like if you went through the same despair as someone who has lost a dog. I know how hard it is to lose a dog naturally through old age etc but the pain must be off the scale to lose a dog and not be able to get the closure of knowing where they went etc.

I also wanted to add, in particular on FB, that Ruars page has brought me a lot of comfort. My Mum was diagnosed with cancer this year which she is getting through OK, but there have been some very dark days. When I get angry and upset, I sometimes sit and read Ruars page and I can only say that the way you have dealt with everything Aileen, is an absolute inspiration to me and no doubt, many others.

How at times you must have been so angry yourself and despairing, but never once in all your postings, has there been anything but kind words, helpfulness to others who have been allowed to post information about missing pets on Ruars page - the page is always a beacon of hope and calm.

Thinking of you. You are a real credit to your beautiful boy.xxx

I think there are a lot of people from here who will always look at black labs and think about Ruars.
Accepting he may never come home is a big step but I know he will always be in your heart and you will never stop loving him and hoping for that miracle :grouphug:

Oh I'm so sorry it's taken this long to reply. I'm judt back from a couple of days seeing my dad.

What a beautiful thing to write, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I do hope your mum is feeling better and the light days surpass the dark ones.

When Ruars went missing, I felt so scared, so alone and as if it was only happening to me, as if no one had ever lost a dog before. What has happened since has opened up a whole new world to me- and others. I have been so humbled, and honoured by the people who have given up their time and resources to finding lost dogs. To the people who ask for nothing but give everything to help. Not just with finding lost furbabies, but rescuing them.

I decided a while back that even if we never find him, we can surely help in some small way, and I think- and hope- that This is what Ruars page is.

Thanks to my old boy, we've managed to reunite some owners with their dogs, rehomed a few and given (I hope( some advice to people going through what we did, and still are.

And we couldn't have done it without this site, and those crucial first few days when you all piled in with advice, help and support. I've said it before and I'll say it again- without all of you, I would have crawled into a corner and given up.

It wasn't just me-it was all of you. And I can never hope to repay that-never.

I'm back on the forums after some time away. I'm so sorry to see that Ruaridh is still missing. My heart goes out to you. I've read back for a few pages, and want to say please don't feel guilty about starting to accept that he might not come back. It is natural to start feeling that way, as we cannot live with such intense pain and survive - it is our mind's way of helping us survive. I am sending love, for what that's worth from a total stranger!

I will read all the posts tomorrow. This has got my attention in the big way. My dog stolen 10 years ago DOGLOST (Jane Hayes) web site were much involved( not in a good way they knew where my dog was being held all along). By the way I got my lab back. Very long story. I remember how it felt not knowing where he was and if he was being cared for. My heart goes out to you.
