You know what makes me laugh? When society talks about the sort of people that rip off the elderly, they call them animals...!

I always think if I ever win the lottery, I'll build a huge home for all the unwanted and unloved dogs and keep them in the lap of luxury all their lives...!!

My two oldies are 14 and almost 13. The 14 year old has just had lumps removed (thankfully not cancerous). I don't earn much but I would live on bread and water if I had to in order to afford their vet bills whilst they still have quality of life. I love them so much I sometimes feel as if I will burst. I can't understand how people can chuck an elderly, blind dog out.

Actually it's a wonder my two haven't got bald patches on their muzzles and ears where I kiss them so much!

Oh Sazzy, I feel for you so much. I think dollardog's suggestion of asking the posties to deliver a poster to each farm on their rounds is an excellent one. I'm still thinking of you, and Ruars of course xxxx

Sazzy, Ive just been looking on Dogost site and a picture popped up of a lost dog called Rags (32420). Her mum apparently wote a letter to Rags which has been published in the March edition of Dogs Today which is out now.
What about you doing something similar, to them or some of the other magazines?
If they won't do an article, they may publish a letter.
Its got to be worth a try, anything to get the old lad home with you and his family.

    Thanks again all.

I asked our postie..and they said it's not their 'policy' but he took some flyers to take to his colleagues to have in their vans. Better than the last time I asked- the last postie wouldn't even look at the poster I gave him.

I'm trying the magazines now.. The editor of Dogs Today had written about Ruars on her blog a wee while back, so she knows about him- might be worth another go.

Again, thank you for caring enough to keep thinking.

    Aileen

    Hi Sazzy

I don't want to poor cold water on anything that may help to find Ruars but I think a Dog Magazine may not help in this case. I am a dog owner and I have never even looked at a copy.

I think it needs to be a woman's magazine to get the word far and wide to people that wouldn't normally read about dogs or animals in general. Something like Best, Real Lives, etc.

Or how about the Sunday Post. Something like the Francis Gay page (think that is right) where they put heart warming stories.
