Oh Sazzy, I'm so sorry. terrible news for Percy's owners but as you say, they have closure. That's not what we want to hear for Ruars though.

That's another site that I never go on though.

As zaksmum says though, I think its really important that you get round to all the farms in the area that you can, even further afield if you can and let them know he's still missing and ask if they have seen him or any signs, You might have gone there when he first went missing and left your details, but if they are like me, could well have put them somewhere and not been able to find them.
Also, renew posters on footpaths, caravan parks etc.
Are there shops, village halls even churches etc in villages around the area where you could put notices up? If it was a big enough poster to be noticed in a shop it might get to someone who is not on the Internet, everyone has to go to a shop sometimes, even farmers/wives who might be in a remote area have to go shopping sometimes. Might jog someone's memory.

Let the local radio and papers know again.
    Try those magazines again.

Keep your chin up Sazzy, we are all routing for the old boy to get back home to you safe. xx

Just another thought - this is making my brain hurt lol - I don't know what it costs to do it officially, probably too much, but you could perhaps have a word with the local post van, as you say a lot of the farms are remote, they probably deliver mail by van, to ask if they would drop a poster in to each farm they deliver to, farms would be likely to have quite a bit of mail, so would get to all of them. Might be worth having a run of posters printed.
The post vans might also have seen a strange dog turn up at a farm on one of their routes.

There has been a dog missing in my local area since last Thursday. I have been following Ellie's thread too hoping for her to be reunited with her owner. I have just seen the tragic update and feel so upset for both Ellie and her owner.

Like you say Aileen there has been no sightings of Ruars body so that is good news and I guess that is what is keeping you positive as well as the support you are getting.

  • Oh no Vicx .... more tears are now flowing, poor wee soul... RIP Ellie and Percy xx

Every time I visit this board I'm in tears with all the sad updates. I haven't been visiting the Pet board as often because it has been full of sad news lately and does me no good when I still get upset over my two.

It was Ellie's disappearance that brought me back to Ruar's thread last night, every time I hear of a dog missing in my local area I always think of Ruar and hope to see this thread title updated with good news. There had been sightings of Ellie so close to my home so really thought she would be found safe and well.

Really hoping Ruar is found safe and well soon. I don't want to read anymore tragic news :(

I have to say I'm exactly the same Vicx ..... it breaks my heart every time I read a thread from someone who's lost a much loved companion - but I do read them all and post, really to pay back the fantastic support I've had on here ...... but it doesn't get any easier as I know only too well what the poor person is going through - and it bring back the moment I lost Ben everytime :( and I will admit I'm not around as much as usual just now as struggling a bit ....

Has anyone seen No. 36742 on doglost? A yellow male labrador found in Scotland (by Falkirk I think) and the owners were traced, but said they didn't want the dog back as the poor thing's going blind.

The dog's 13 years old...I can't believe they've chucked him out to fend for himself on the streets in this weather when he can't even see properly. He must have been so frightened.

I wish I - and a few people on here - could get hands on the scumbags who think it's fine to treat a defenceless, elderly dog like this.

The other side of the coin is someone like sazzy, who's been so determined to do all in her power to bring Ruaridh home. He's been loved and cared for no matter how old he got.

There was a mention that the found labrador may be PTS if he fails the vet check. How sad is that?
