    Hi Sazzy

I don't want to poor cold water on anything that may help to find Ruars but I think a Dog Magazine may not help in this case. I am a dog owner and I have never even looked at a copy.

I think it needs to be a woman's magazine to get the word far and wide to people that wouldn't normally read about dogs or animals in general. Something like Best, Real Lives, etc.

Or how about the Sunday Post. Something like the Francis Gay page (think that is right) where they put heart warming stories.

It's true that a dog magazine may not help, but the only people who DO read them are dog lovers, so targeting the right people there. Other mags are a great idea too, most of them seem to have a dog story once a week or so.

Are there any internet scottish farming or fishing forums? Could be worth an appeal on those - maybe someone who knows someone who has information?

Have all vets within, say, a 20 mile radius been contacted? What about haulage companies, check out the names on lorries you might see delivering locally?

Do you have a mobile library service? Have they been contacted?

You're not pouring cold water on it.
I also think it would be better sent to a woman's magazine, which is why I said to try the other magazines again that wouldn't run an article.
I think that something like Woman, Woman's Own, Best or such like would have more chance of it being noticed. I never have any of the Dog Magazines and with Dogs Today having alrady published the letter from Rags's mum, they probably wouldn't print another one anyway.

Glad the postie at least took some flyers.

Would the electricity or gas meter readers be at all willing to help? Every single house will have to have a gas/electric meter reading.

The people in my area who do the readings are Accuread, and they are so helpful - one of them agreed to give out leaflets to every house where he read the meter, for sheds to be checked for a missing cat.

Apparently there's a spaniel missing from Forres, the belief is that the dog has been stolen as it's a particularly well trained working dog. Yet another family going through agonies. :(

In my area a house was broken into and a pug puppy stolen. The householder thinks the house was targeted purely for the puppy (a female) who will now probably be bred from till she drops, then chucked out onto the streets.

Don't know why I didn't think of this before, but Farmers Weekly has a forum. Worth a post?
