Has anyone seen No. 36742 on doglost? A yellow male labrador found in Scotland (by Falkirk I think) and the owners were traced, but said they didn't want the dog back as the poor thing's going blind.

The dog's 13 years old...I can't believe they've chucked him out to fend for himself on the streets in this weather when he can't even see properly. He must have been so frightened.

I wish I - and a few people on here - could get hands on the scumbags who think it's fine to treat a defenceless, elderly dog like this.

The other side of the coin is someone like sazzy, who's been so determined to do all in her power to bring Ruaridh home. He's been loved and cared for no matter how old he got.

There was a mention that the found labrador may be PTS if he fails the vet check. How sad is that?

I saw it, and was so upset by it! It totally enraged me! If we hadn't got Zelda, I'd have been going the 150 odd miles to get him.

Ali- you summed it up better than a thousand words. They are total and utter basterwards. Absolute shoites!

There is no way people will let that dog get PTS. None. I just wish the 'owners' names were known. I, for one, would have no compunction at making their names public!

Ruars was 11, his continence wasn't everything it should be. If he heard a loud noise he'd let his bladder and bowels go- but there was NO chance I would have let him go, just because he was a bit difficult now and again.

    Thos people make me vomit.

And I saw about Ellie- poor wee soul. Running free at the bridge.

So upsetting. It's the luck of the draw for dogs, isn't it? If they get lucky they go to a loving, caring owner who will love and protect them all their lives. If they don't, they go to some waste of space who will abuse them, resent them and turf them out on cold dark streets to survive as best they can when their novelty wears off or they become ill - surely a time when they are most in need of a bit of love

Just been looking at a site called WoofBark which has two elderly black labrador cross male dogs.

One's called Frank, they think he's about 11, with quite a bit of grey/white on his face, (there's a picture of him) and the other's called Ebony who's about 13, but they've mistakenly used the same pic of the one called Frank alongside Ebony. He's listed as under assessment, coming soon.

    Might be worth checking out?

Fingers crossed, it's Ruars and hope Sazzy sees it soon.

Those other barstewards want locking up, I bet they'll have got themselves another dog to do the same again to in a few years time.
I would never give up on a dog of mine whilever it had got quality of life, I would always do as much as I possibly could to take care of it.

I think that's why I feel so sorry for them, and I support them every month with a d/d to an animal charity. They have no control, no say.

I know there's a lot of kids out there with bad parents and I'm not for one minute suggesting their plight is not as bad as a dog's, but at least they have a voice if they can find the strength to use it and people who are supposed to look out for them like teachers/social workers etc.

Dogs have no-one really. No-one will come to the door to say they haven't been seen lately, no-one can ask them how they are, no-one can make sure they eat and are kept warm.

Does that sound awful? I don't mean to lessen any poor child's situation. I've probably not worded any of that very well. :o

They are a long way from Scotland though, but could have been moved to where they are as being the most appropriate place to find them a home,

Thanks for keeping looking.. No it's not Ruars. We'd seen this old chap before on the Oldies club.

Breaks my heart to see all these old boys and ladies needing homes. How can people do these things?

Maybe check out the one called Ebony then when his picture comes up? He's under assessment at the moment but they think he's about 13 years old. Might be worth a look?
