Thank you all again. I was really worried about it.
I think we're 90% certain now. We're trying not to let our hearts rule our heads, and looked at all the insurance, practicalities etc.
This sounds silly again, but I dreamt about the old boy last night and he was in a heap with Bruce and Zelda, lying on his back with his paws up in the air getting crawled all over and his ears pulled..woke up with flipping tears running down my face. I just hope it's a reality one day.Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

It isn't replacing at all - if he comes back, then you'll have Ruar and Zelda.
A dog needs a home and you can give Zelda a great one and puppies do help a broken heart.0 -

How's it going with your contact at the local TV station?0

Murphy- it's a lady who works with a rescue centre in Aberdee who is well acquainted with someone with Scottish BBC. She messaged me on FB to say that they're still talking about it. Maybe doing a full segment on missing animals rather than just Ruars.. I'll be keeping you all updated though as stuff gets worked on.Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. 3 dogs are as easy as 2! The most I've had was 8 (plus 8 pups and their mum) and it's really not that much different to 2 dogs.. yes it's more expensive, but in time and energy more than 2 really doesn't make that much difference
No one who has ever lost (in both senses of the word) a dog will think you are replacing Ruars - each pet has it's own special place in your heart.
Looking forward to seeing pics of Zelda xx and fingers crossed about the TV piece xxSome days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -

la la la I'm still not listening...
Seriously though, no new dog is ever a replacement, it's a tribute to the dogs you have had who will live on in your heart and your memories.0 -
I agree 3 dogs are just as easy as 2 dogs. I got my first Yorkie in 1993 (he passed away in 2007), second Yorkie in 1996 (he was sadly put to sleep 7 months ago) and my King Charles in 2000 (she passed away 4 months ago). So between 2000 and 2007 I owned 3 dogs, none of which got on but they were so much easier than these two Yorkie pups I have now!
No new dog will ever replace Ruar but will of course help you along this awful journey. Seven months on and I still cry daily for my Yorkie that I lost, he was my 'special' dog that nothing could ever replace.
I hope Ruar returns home soon. I am sure he was in my dream last night but I can't remember anything from it!A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
