Of course you wouldn't get flamed for thinking of having another dog. We all know how much you love Ruars and how desperate you are to get him back, but as you say, Ruars loves other dogs anyway, especially JRTs and I'm sure he'll love Zelda as she will be a lady friend for him when he gets back.

A lady (she didn't tell me her name) sought me out in Sainsburys this morning and told me that she had found dog remains in the field behind CapGemini (where I work)..she thought it was Ruars, and had tried to find me all morning as she didn't have my number.

We went straight over, and It wasn't the old boy(phew)..but someone must be missing a small terrier type..looks like it's been in the field for about 6-12 months. There's not a lot there due to scavenging animals, but it looked as if it had been white, sandy colour and black-possible large JRT or possible border terrier? Horrible as it sounds, there wasn't even enough to have a burial. RIP little one x

And I know I shouldn't due to past problems..but I'm having a large glass of wine to stop the shaking

Thank God it wasn't him! I think I'd be having the whole bottle of wine, never mind a large glass! Poor little dog though, whoever he was.

Bless the lady for searching you out but thank god it wasn't Ruars.

I think I might have needed a bottle of wine if it had been me!

Horrible as it must have been for you oi shows that Ruars is still high up on peoples minds and any sighting or possible sighting will not pass by unreported.

I still believe no news is good news, and Ruars will be beside himself with happiness when he does come home and finds a new playmate. I think you are doing the right thing getting another dog, it's not a replacement at all. Sometimes situations just present themselves and you have to go with it. I think you have done marvellously through all this, I don't think I would have coped as well as you. xx

Thanks again everyone. I don't know how I've coped to be honest- I just have. I can say hand on heart that this is THE most difficult situations I have ever been in during my 45 years

I know that when he comes home, I'll collapse into a ball and hibernate for a few months. Just lock myself away with my animals.

Someone has put this on youtube..but she hasn't managed to put music to it yet- she says she'll work on it tomorrow, it's just a montage of pictures really..
