  • OMG I can't believe there's fireworks going off already! Jeeezzzzzzz

I see the SSPCA is campaigning for them to be only allowed to be sold / set off at certain times of the year - will be backing that one.

I feel really helpless, I'm sure he's OK (and no news is good news in that respect) and just hiding out somewhere. I can only imagine what you're going through - and know what you mean about the cats going missing (it's just as worrying but you do kind of almost expect them to go wandering at some point, whereas dogs don't do that).

Is there anyone who could sit in the house so you could go out looking?

He may be more likely to come to you if he's scared and hiding somewhere.

That's a brilliant idea. If he hears your voice he will definitely come to you.

Hi all, I'm printing posters off for lamposts, and flyers, thanks to the links from Gettingready, TigerLily and Rising from the ashes.

We moved years ago, but everyone up there knows him, and would call me straight away, good idea though. We live in a rural area, and I'm just back from a search. The teenage boys were out for three hours and not a sign of him either.

This is the ONE weekend where there is no one to sit at home. My dog sitter is away for the weekend, and partner in Australia visiting family. He's demented over there and wants to come home. I'll be very honest with you- I wish he was here too. Sons up and off, so just me really.

I went to his favourite places, down at the big green park beside the beach and the beach itself- saw a couple of black labs frolicking in the water and I'm not ashamed to admit that I started blubbing again. A 44 year old woman crying unashamedly must have made for a pretty sight. Not that I care.

Thanks for the 3-4 day hope, but mine are starting to fade. I know my dog-the police said 'oh he'll come home when he's hungry' but he won't BE hungry because he'll be so stressed.

I just want him home, out of the cold, the noise and everything. Just don't know where to put myself.

I am really sorry for whinging on- I really am. I wish I could be brave anf strong, and I usually am, but not where my old man is concerned.

You are doing fine hun......of course you are upset and I totally understand the sense of doom you have now but ....and its a big BUT people are amazingly kind when it comes to dogs and the chances are he is safe and just waiting for you to arrive.

What about a neighbour to sit in for you? Rally the troups anyone and everyone you can think of - there must be someone who will give you an hour or so out shouting for him :)

Stay strong and get those posters up more the merrier - dont forget to call the dog walkers (it was one of those that found and took in my Houdini )

You ARE being brave and strong - you're getting out there looking for him and doing everything to get him home. Can your neighbour sit at your house if there's no family around? Can you speak to people at the beach/park or whatever? Ask if they've seen him, print out some more flyers with your details on and give them to everyone in a possible area he may have headed for?

When my neighbour's dog went missing he was gone for three days in December - turned out someone had taken him in to wait till the dog warden service restarted in January. Possibly this has happened with Rory, if someone took him in, they may be waiting till tomorrow to ring the authorities. Get all the local kids to help search for him too, and get them to spread the word.

I'm optimistic he'll be found still.

I know how you must be feeling and pray for a positive outcome.

Are there any accessible barns or sheds/huts or empty houses he could've got into? Or dens like kids make in the woods? He might have found somewhere he can shelter and feel safe there.

Stay strong sazzy. He WILL come home.

Just popped back to see if there was any news :( Keep strong Sazzybum xx

I'm just letting my 2 dogs out for their last pee before it gets dark and the bangs start again and they turn into quivering wrecks.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

This is what we're having to do, it's ridiculous. I'm just about to take my two out because after dark Lucy will be in the most terrible state again.

Last night she was SO distressed, and there was nothing I could do to calm her. She even attacked my other dog Jack, and that's unheard of because she adores him. Fortunately I grabbed her in time, but when I hear of dogs like Rory being missing because of the idiots who find fireworks fun, it makes me SO angry.

Sazzy, keeping everything crossed for you and Rory.
