Can you contact the local paper to do a story on him, and appealing for readers to keep an eye out for him?

I did think of that but the local paper comes out tomorrow for the week, so as it's shut today, not enough time.

The police told me to phone the SSPCA again, and the girl was much nicer and took details to pass on to her colleagues.

In one way I'm relieved they haven't heard of him, same for the vets. But in another I just want my old man home, safe with his family.

How about the national paper then, Daily Mail, Mirror or whatever. Or if there are any pet shops round your way, put posters in there?

My dog Lucy was petrified with the damn fireworks and would've definitely done a runner if she could. I'm hoping Rory will be hiding somewhere and will come home today. Big hug for you, you must be frantic.

I can't bl00dy believe it!! There's fireworks going off again nearby. If the old boy was coming home on his own- he surely won't now.

I am so SICK of this rubbish now, totally and utterly heartsick of it. What do people get out of this noise? It's still daylight !!!!!!!

I'm trying really hard to remain positive- I really am, but as time marches on and it gets dark-there's going to be more of those wretched things, and I feel I'll never get him back home.

Couldn't agree more sazzy, if I were you I'd speak to anyone setting them off nearby and explain about Rory, ask them to please not set fireworks off as the poor old fella will be traumatised enough as it is and will be even more frightened if there are more fireworks going off.

If they have any feelings at all they'll totally understand.

Someone must know where Rory is. Please don't give up hope.

Is there any way a message can be put on this forum to reach all users, not just those who log into the pet care section?

Sorry zaksmum, was having a 'moment' there. The FB group is growing, and my sons have put it as their status as they'll probably reach a lot more people than me, and the folks will share it as well.

Honestly- the noise here is incredible, and I tried the 'reasonable' approach last night- and they went on to 240am! Not enough to phone the police, one every 20 mins or so..

Just feeling so helpless to be honest. I've phoned everyone in authority, people are all over looking for him. I'm sitting here in case he comes home-still with the front door open, or the police etc phone. If my partner was here- I'd have been out at the crack of dawn looking for him-and not stopped until I knew either way. I've been on holiday from work for a week, and supposed to go back tomorrow. Yes, can feel another 'moment' coming on..

Have you tried printing some posters off and getting those everywhere locally? Lamposts, shops, biggest local supermarket....
Contact your local dog walkers (yellow pages?) they will maybe see him when out and about with others

Sorry if I have missed you saying you have

On the subject of fireworks we had a full display at 8 am this morning what the heck is that all about  suspect someone accidently let one of those very expensive all in one ones off. Blue sky and all!

Don't be daft, you're more than entitled to have moments. I'd be demented.

Just a thought...have you moved house since you had Rory? When my son's 13 year old dog went missing we searched everywhere, then O/H suggested he might have headed for their last address five years previously. Everyone said no way...but there he was, lurking outside their old house where he'd been for hours, refusing to be taken inside by the bewildered new occupants. And he'd have had to cross a motorway to get there!

Is it rural where you live, or a town? If rural, can you check ditches etc in case he's fallen in one and can't get out? If it's a town, check places he knows, back alleys, or check with the dog warden if you have one?

Wish I lived nearer. I do so hope he's ok.
