Thank you- I've emailed them- but just got a delivery failure message. I'll text them instead, see if that works.
Oh bother sorry that didn't work, I guess that trick was becoming too well known. I've been poking around on their website and came across this page: http://www.mfr.co.uk/public-file/. There's a load of email addresses at the bottom.

Hi Jojo, yes- that's viewfield where the tennis courts etc are, and where he was last seen. We spoke to them today but nothing doing. He was running so fast through it that he probably didn't even register on anyones senses.Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

Oh Sazzy, you have nothing to feel guilty for.
Friends of mine, in the past, have found dogs over the weekend and kept them until they can get to the dog warden on a Monday morning, so don't give up. I would be going crazy if one of mine went missing. Can you stay off work in the morning to contact rescue places in case someone takes him there tomorrow?
I'm going to light a candle for you both. xxAspire not to have more but to be more.

Brilliant idea jojo.0 -
Just also had a look on Google Earth as Jojo suggested and there's a big holiday park called Lochloy not too far from the police station...is this open at this time of year? If not, could he have got through to it and perhaps not be able to get out again? Or might he be hiding under a caravan there?
Or are there any outbuildings at the railway station?0 -
i hope you get some good news soon, were thinking of you here xxx0

Well lovely MSEers, something is having an effect. I just got a phone call from a chap who had saw my FB group, and said he had seen a black lab wandering down close by the river at 4pm this afternoon. After hurtling myself there in the car, and shouting myself hoarse (it's pitch black down there even though I had a torch) I came home empty handed and gutted. BUT it shows that your suggestions are having an effect!
Whether it was Ruaridh or not, and he can find his way home from that spot- and has beaten me home a few times from there, it shows that people are noticing.
He'd only just seen the FB page, after it being passed on by someone else so couldn't phone earlier.
On one hand I hope it wasn't him and he's tucked up somewhere nice and warm ready to be handed over tomorrow, on the other hand, if it was, then I know he's alive.:)Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

Hi, the caravan park is right beside the beach and isn't fenced off. He has walked there many times from home round the river to the beach, and we were there today.
No outbuildings at the station. That is the opposite end of town to where he was last seen heading, but he is terrified of loud noises like trucks, trains, car horns, even the wind sets him off sometimesOh my poor lad
