Because they are always putting stories about animals on there, there's at least one every day. The Daily Mail are a lot less 'selective' about what they put on their site than other newspapers, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Anyway surely it's worth trying rather than just saying 'oh i doubt it' and not bothering??
Yes, I've contacted them with no reply

If you're trying to get it in places like the Daily Mail, I think try and come up with something significant about the campaign to set the story apart and generate their interest- maybe that the search has gone viral all over the UK and that thousands of people are looking for him? Something which could potentially act as a hook. Is there anything like that which you can think of? Or maybe something really sentimental about the dog or its owners which they know would tug at their reader's heartstrings?

ETA: Sorry if this sounds a bit cold and cynical, just trying to think what would make it interesting from their perspective.

That's what's needed, otherwise the media just won't be interested.

    stories - not missing pets.

the mails website is the most popular in europe, but they wont feature a story with just a missing dog on there without it having a huge hook or angle. they will have so many requests for it that they cant do it. its a business, not free advertising.

in fact take a look now - theres a story about a presumed kidnapped dog. of a celebrities son. and the investigation into it has gone right into their personal lives and its now claiming his ex is a hooker!

I think its worth a try. Maybe count the number of people who are in the facebook group, who have posted to this thread and go with the angel of "600 people looking for Ruaridh"

The fact that Sazzy's sons are in the army might interest them too, the DM love soldiers!

I think the soldier angle could be an excellent idea, if you could spin it something like "serviceman due to come home for xmas and his beloved dog is missing, family are desperate for them to be reunited when he gets home."

Sorry again because I know it sounds cynical but it could work.

Not sure if you have already tried this, but maybe you could get a few t-shirts printed with a pic of Rory, and then get someone you know to take a decent pic of you and some friends wearing the t-shirts. Then whenever you contact the media attach the pic, media seem to much prefer their online stories to contain an image and when it's only going online the picture quality doesn't have to be as good as for print.

Lay awake this morning thinking of other ways, what about re targeting the royal mail sorting offices.
The postmen go to every house daily and if someone has taken him in they have got a good chance of seeing him.
I would imagine when they were targeted at first it would just have been if they had seen him outside.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned.
We really want to see him home

Yes definitely, if you can get something like a montage up on Youtube i'm sure that would attract some attention. I'll have a think as well.

The most worrying thing is that there hasn't been one credible sighting of Rory since he took off in his panic.

So again I'll say it. He is either trapped or being taken care of.

A new appeal then, should surely be for people to search their sheds and barns, and also whether their neighbours have a new dog.
