Hi Sazzy .... Does Ruars bark when the Postman delivers? Im just wondering (if you are friendly with your Postman) whether you could show him a photo, and ask him to have a quick look over a garden gate, or through a letter box if he hears a big barking dog (presuming Ruars has a big bark) and maybe he could ask his colleagues to do the same ... He could also call his name in a friendly voice whilst doing so to try and bring him nearer ... Of course, somehow he would have to feel that there is nobody home whilst doing this, plus he might just not be allowed to do this, or not feel comfortable doing so ... Just an idea!

Only problem I can think of is, if the Postman thinks he might have found Ruars, is what would you do next??
Some days I wake up Grumpy ... Other days I let him lie in.

The most worrying thing is that there hasn't been one credible sighting of Rory since he took off in his panic.

So again I'll say it. He is either trapped or being taken care of.

A new appeal then, should surely be for people to search their sheds and barns, and also whether their neighbours have a new dog.

This is the trouble - he hasn't been proved to have been seen at any time really. So it's unlikely he's fending for himself. The search does need to now focus on dogs that are actually on a lead with someone or whether anyone knows of a neighbour, friend, whatever recently getting an older dog. They may not even take him out, but just put him in the garden for the toilet, but maybe someone's heard barking where they didn't think a dog lived?
  • Sorry to hear you still haven't found him :(

Sorry I havnt been around much today, my lad has had a bad day (just back from Vets) So having a quick catch up.

I am going to try (and I mean try) and put something to paper then send it to the usual papers, and also Takeabreak and any others I can find. If thats ok with sazzy? I will try and use the Sons in army angle. So if anyone has any ideas playing around in heads please give me a shout. All help is good help so to speak.

We havnt anything to lose and everything to gain I think. I just cant think of anything else at the moment so I am going to give this a good try.

sazzy please keep your chin up, we havnt given in yet. xxxxxxxxxx

PS on a lighter note I will be using spell check (lol) xx

How about a Christmas theme - "home for Christmas?" saying the soldier son will be home for Christmas and he wants his dog to be home for Christmas too...or "All I want for Christmas" with a pic of Bruce looking at a pic of Ruaridh sadly, the article could say he only wants his big brother home for Christmas...? Or focus on how so many people (we could say thousands from all over Britain) are praying for his safe return...?

I read on Rory's dog lost site, that some live around the corner for many months and then come home. I do hope this is the case here.

    More great ideas- thank you.

Chris- I hope your boy's ok. Keep me updated please.

You know I was reading take a break today and thought about it- but I don't want them to think I would be putting a story in for the money-so I sort of discarded it- unless the money went to lostdogs-scotland or doglost.co.uk of course.

Jaqui- unfortunatley (although I thought it was a blessing up until 3 weeks ago) Ruars doesn't bark much. He never barked at the postie- tried to lick him to death mind. He only ever barked at the dogs next door when they barked at him through the fence. But if anyone came to the door- he thought it was just someone new to pat him and stood wagging his curly tail. Such a softie.

A couple of people have said they've seen an old lab in a house in 'Pig St' in Nairn. The actual name of the street is 'Tradespark Road' which isn't that far from Viewfield, so I'll be going up there again in the morning. That's the next street up from where we were at 11pm the other night. There is a lady up there who has a couple of black labs, one of whom wanders, but no harm going up there and shouting -and looking at everyones windows to see if a big black head appears. I'll put up more posters as well.

Flyer drop on cars tomorrow early in Nairn. Seans going to Elgin anyway tomorrow, so he'll be targetting Asda and Tesco there.

We ARE trying, and following everything we possibly can. Had a bit of a wobble last night when we were discussing Xmas day, whether to go out for dinner or not. I said no- we were having dinner at home because Ruars favouritist thing EVER was his Christmas dinner..even the sprouts!
Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

If you can't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them.

I will respect your opinions, even if I don't agree with them :)

Good luck for tomorrow then sazzy. The tip off about the labs in the house might just be the important one, fingers crossed. Do you know which actual house it is in Tradespark road? Why would you have to shout him - if you knock, wouldn't they open the door, don't you think?
  • I've been reading this since the start, hoping each day for a 'good news' post.

A couple of years ago I was following blogs of two owners who'd lost their dogs - http://missingbraccojacob.blogspot.com/ and http://skyisstillmissing.blogspot.com/. I didn't want to mention these before as unfortunately neither of the dogs have been found, but the blogs are still accessible and include some ideas that might not have been covered, so they're probably worth a read:

They mention getting Jacob featured in some doggie magazines (Dogs Monthly and Dogs Today I think) and the Sky blog definitely refers to setting up 'traps' and using tracking dogs, so if someone has the time it'd probably be worth reading from start to finish and noting down things that haven't yet been covered here.

HTH, and fingers crossed for tomorrow's searching :)
