...and this is why in the crime figures are coming down year after year, not because crimes are reducing but people aren't reporting them and who can blame them. You spend half an hour on the phone to a copper who knows there is nothing he/she can do apart from give you a crime number that means nothing for a minor crime. Even if they catch the scrote and link him/her to all the other mirror backs nicked the courts will decide not enough evidence...........poppasmurf_bewdley wrote: »That's a good idea, but wouldn't it be better if Vauxhall and other car manufacturers made it a little bit more difficult to pinch the things in the first place. Maybe even a small bolt with an allen key head holding the thing in place would be an improvement to just being able to remove the thing by pressing the top and bottom.:mad:
Not really because when you need to replace the mirror back yourself your could end up breaking the whole mirror assembly same as with someone nicking it. I would rather they nick the backs then snap the whole mirror off so they can dismantle it later. Not only will you end up having to replace the whole mirror and back you could be left with damage to the door aswell. A £50 replacement then turns into a £300 job.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

Not mirrors, but nearly 5 years ago my parents had a Metro that kept losing it's indicator units in car parks- people cut the rubber seals out and took them. Apparently a common part with other Rovers of that era, so easy to sell on.
The solution was to reverse park, so the front of the car faced the aisle of the car park rather than being hidden.0 -
I know a boy who needed a new wing for his saxo so he drove up west wales and took one of a car in the middle of the night he was well out of order hes an idiotCome on, it's not rocket surgery is it?0

2.16am and 2 exceptionally thick scumbags returned and stole the replacement plain covers. What thick scumbags didn't notice less than 2ft from their heads was the big, shiny CCTV camera complete with red light that clearly captured scumbags faces....
Police coming at 11am. Should they be unhelpful footage will be posted on every corner of the internet rest assured.0 -

Good move.
Did you get any faces? If you think they're local, might be worth taking a screen-shot from the footage which shows the faces, printing off a bunch & doing a little unofficial letter-drop in the locality, particularly at houses which have the same car as you.
Also a few larger ones, possibly laminated & attached to lamp-posts (like a lost dog poster) might also get some attention.0 -

Police gone, taken footage. Not allowed to show it outside our home at present so if you want to view call in lol.
Officer is sending footage to the enhancement unit but incredibly good shot of one of them with rather distinguishing features.... PC seems to think that fellow local officers will recognise at least one, if not both offenders.
Will update when i know something0 -
We're all waiting with baited breath.
Please let there be someone with a full set at the CPS or whatever they call themselves these days.0 -

Stick your monitor on the window sill facing outwards and play it on repeat. That's inside your house isn't it?0
