nice that you caught a good clear image but all they will likely get (IF CAUGHT) is a slap on the wrists, I think I would have had more satisfaction posting their picture around all the local pubs and shops, get the landlord/owners on side and get them barred from the town. Much more effective than "you've been a very naughty boy, now don't do it again or we'll have to tell you off again. Then next time we'll tell your mum and dad, and if that doesn't work we'll.....we'll......we'll.....well we'll cross that bridge when we get to it".
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

Well, I can tell you these are not kids, early twenties easily. The second odd thing to happen is this...

Just got back in the house and an old man knocked on the door, he'd seen the car come up the street and followed it home. He asked if the mirrors had been stolen as both his and his neighbours had also gone last night, both Astra's. Also interesting was they tried to break into a pug (presumably for the stereo) and failed. These victims live less than 100 yards down the road.

All have reported to the Police now so thats 5 separate thefts of Astra Mirrors and 1 attempted break in of another vehicle. Hopefully now the Police will take the matter very seriously.
  • I hope the old bill do nick them.

Unfortunately it won't be a thoroughly cheesed-off-with-chasing-chavs-only-for-some-do-gooder-to-let-them-off-again street copper on the bench if it ever gets to court.

If it were we'd see some appropriate punishments and orders to repay the victim enforced properly too.

It's not the police officer in the streets fault, it's the police managers and the rest of the justice system thats at fault for not sorting trash out sharpish and painfully once the officer has done the business getting the evidence together and nicking the swine.

Its very annoying, and my 'lie in wait' plan was quickly brought to reality by the fact they are carrying screwdrivers.

I felt incredibly sorry for the old man, he's lost just plain plastic ones like us but his neighbour had lost blue colour coded ones.

To my mind these idiots are exceptionally easy to identify (one has what looks like a rather distinctive tattoo on his hand!!), if nothing is done then I shall print out stills from the footage and nail em to every lamp post in the town and to hell with the consequences.
  • Prison system is a joke, the government cant afford to keep all these people locked up. Wheirs Australia when we need it, put them on an island and let them fend for themselves for a few years.

    Hope they catch the guys.

shame the others aren't on CCTV aswell, with yours being the only one with real evidence if it ever goes to court it'll only be for one account of theft not the others.

Now you know where they live though..............................................................................................................................................................................................................(i'm sure you can fill in the blanks lol)

And yet another visitor! The couple who live next door but 3's son who now lives about 100 yards further down the road. His went in the night as well, only thieves will be disappointed as lad admitted his were a DIY Colour Code job and looked awful in daylight. Police had been and taken a statement from him too and he told me that whilst he was giving his statement reports of yet another Astra Mirror theft came over the radio. Not sure who that is at present. He viewed the CCTV in our home as the Police said he could and though he didn't recognise them did agree that they would be distinctive enough to spot again.

I'm thinking of having a CCTV party and inviting all the street.....lol
  • who said about just one count of theft? if the perps are raided and caught with all the above theft of the mirror covers that match the cars they came from, that x amount of thefts to add to the list from one CCTV footage. plus if they check their ebay account probably will see many more they pinched that have been sold for profit.

very tedious to be pinching mirror backs, thats like 12 year olds pinching car badges to stick on the bedroom wardrobe. but none the less its a theft that costs money to the victim.

If it were me I would invest in a smartwater package, I used one of those ultra violet pens a good few years back on my car radio, took the radio out and plastered my post code all over it.

One morning got up to find car had been broken into and they had nicked the radio...but I had the head, anyhow reported it etc etc. 2pm that day I had a phone call to say that they had recovered the radio in a stolen car with the the offender, all I had to do then was tell them where the markings were to kinda prove it was mine, they finger printed it and by 5pm it was back in my car :)

http://www.smartwater.tv/ I have in the past also used the alphadot system and have had things returned after being nicked.
