You are running the risk of - and may irretrievably already have done so - compromising the police investigation by your actions. If the police have not yet alerted the suspects, then you can bet your bottom dollar that one of the mates you mention will have a loose tongue. This risks getting back to the suspects, who doubtless will pronto get rid of any incriminating evidence, get their stories straight etc.
Please leave the investigation to the professionals from now on if you want a positive result by way of prosecution and conviction.
You'll probably deserve to be let off if you can convince a judge that clear CCTV image of you nicking some of these things isn't you!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
After they are convicted file all of you file a civil claim0

Lovely little update for you.
Just had a call from local station, the fatter one of the two has been caught and charged and will appear in court in 2 weeks where he will ask for 11 other offences to be considered. He is pleading guilty to ours alone as only we have the CCTV as mentioned above.
Police are confident of picking up the skinny one in the next day or two and are now trying to find the head of the little operation who's been paying them per pair of mirror covers stolen. Obviously they want to knock this one on the head ASAP before a trend starts.
So well done local Police. I'll update again when scumbag has been sentenced0 -

I'm pleased. If they can pick up number 2 I'll be even happier as I get the impression this one is the lackey shall we say and #1 is the more accomplished thief, but a result either way and I believe #2 is now residing in a hostel well out of the local area awaiting his court date.0 -
Am i getting mixed up but if he's asking for 11 others to be taken into consideration, how can he only plead guilty to yours? or have the plod asked him to take the rap for a few others, they clear up their backlog and he gets a slap on the wrists?0

To be honest I'm not sure, the message came via phone this morning though I'm told our local lads have called round earlier when I wasn't in but are nipping back.
I'm assuming he'll ask for the offences when it gets to court? I don't know, I have no idea how it works but I'm sure all will become clear soon.0
