Old Style Daily Thread for Saturday 5th November 2011

Old Style Daily Thread for Saturday 5th November 2011
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 4th November 2011 . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

  • Morning all <yawn> ...

OH is off to work, left at 5-15  the usual time lol

Log burner was still in from last night so chucked a log on and the washing is in front of it now :j

Last night wasnt so OS... tea was supposed to be half price sausages and garlic mash and parsnip mash from the freezer...

Got a phone call from the farm office and went down to see my 'boss' .. I work from home (we live on the farm lol) to say I was getting more responsibility and more pennies.. so in essence a promotion. I deal with our own rapeseed oil after it has left the pressing plant and also the fuel we make :j:beer:

So OH decided to take me for a drink to celebrate and the nearest thing within 5 miles is an Indian so we called there and ended up bring a bottle home and some starters to go with the sausages :rotfl:

WM will be going on shortly and OH has decided that we need a dishwasher to 'help out' so next week when get paid we will be buying a dishwasher :T I used to have one but when moved here we didnt buy a new one.

Going to MIL to pick up chest freezer this afternoon :D

Hugs to all.. Hope everyone is well and not too cold. Wet and damp here.. not good harvesting weather.. makes the soil too claggy and ends up coming back in the trailers to the wash

    Hello x

I cant say it is a good morning:(:(:( Healing vibes and good wishes are needed for Mooloo's DGD (and Mooloo herself) as she was admitted to hospital last night. From what I can gather DGD might be suffering from some form of arthritis and they are waiting on further tests. Im sure Moo wont mind me posting this as they will both appreciate the support of collective online friends xx

Im getting myself organised as I am going to gather some bits and pieces together and take them in. Poor Mooloo didnt think it was that serious and so did not take a bag with her, but she did take her medicines!!

OS wise well a trip to C0stc0 to stock up on meat and bits. Washing is already on and cuppa is ready to drink xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • :( Just heard about the crash on the M5 ... my thoughts go to every single one :(

Ooh FW - you're up early. Not heard about crash will check up - hugs though (((X))).

Chaos reigns today as OH announced yesterday that we were having a clear up day today. Means I'll be spending the next week clearing up after everyone no doubt. On a positive note, we got our fat cat Rory back. He's been out all week and refusing to come home, so we went to the neighbours with a cat basket, which they caught him in! Trip to the vets next week as I think he's deaf. Could just be that he's male - selective hearing!

DS1 let me have a lie in until 6am this morning - bliss. Chaos reigns now though. xxx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Morning Em

LOL at Rory selective deafness :p

Hope the tidying goes well.. whenever OH trys to 'help' tidying up it takes me ages to find things again :o

Morning, early start today though not by choice. I found some espresso powder in the cupboard yesterday and had a couple - typically it wakes me up again the following morning as soon as I'm awake and a bit bleary. Hope everyone is OK and my thoughts go out to those people both on the motorway itself and those waiting to hear from friends and family involved in the M5 crash. (((hugs))) Not a lot planned today, but I might start doing a bit of Christmas prep - seeing what cards I've got, what presents I already have, etc, and making a food list. Not sure what' we'll be doing, but it's a start. 49 days to go, I think...

Went to see some fireworks last night, so I doubt we'll be heading off to see any tonight - you never know though. I made a steak and mushroom pie with a herby short-crust pastry and we'll have the rest of that tonight perhaps with chips - mmm. No more cooking planned today as I'll be doing a big lasagne tomorrow so will save the oven/fuel and do a big batch there. Got some tidying up to do today and I quite fancy watching a film.

farmer'swife - I love my chest freezer and wouldn't be without it. Just got to remember to rotate whatever's in it. I found a few meals I made quite a while ago and had forgotten about!
    esmf - glad Rory's back OK :)
Molly - sending positive vibes for Mooloo

(((hugs))) to those not too well or a bit down.

    KB xx

It looks a bit drear out today, nevermind.
Hubby & I met on Nov 5th & tonight we have been invited to a Firework watching party on the top floor of a tower block, as I can't see to drive at night we are going over just before lunch, we'll have lunch & then as a treat he has booked us in to an 'Executive serviced apartment' to stay overnight, so no worries about about night driving or having a drink if I want one, which I probably won't, lol. This won't be as expensive as it sounds, lunch will be in a local pub that do a burger with chips & salad & pint for £3.99, I shall have an orange juice & share hubby's chips & salad & we have been loaned the apartment cheap by the owner as a favour.
    Have a lovely day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
