  • "I'm ok, think I'm suffering from stress. I find it hard to admit this as I was brought up to just get on with things - stress and depression was for weak people but even I can see that I'm not my usual self. I seem to work so hard but get nowhere iykwim plus worries about DS1 as usual.
I just dont know what to do about it."

Taplady, It's not weak people who suffer - it's people who are too strong for too long. I had a total breakdown two years ago and my advice would be to get some help before it goes too far, as the worse it gets the harder it is to recover from. Look after yourself or you're in no state to look after other people.

Happy Birthday to Jannieannie for yesterday :beer:

Bramble, there are 2 ways to do it really, you either pretend its not the last time and just say goodbye in a normal breezy way, or come right out and say it in a way that you both know is final, only you will know which your grandad would prefer, its going to be hard either way, so hugs to you xx

    Afternoon all,

Many thanks for the birthday wishes, you're such a lovely bunch.
DH made us scrambled egg and smoked salmon for breckie and produced a bottle of Champagne, he made a toast and said "I want you around in my life for many more b/days" I'm sure he'd been peeling onions as his eyes were a bit watery. :o He gave me some Chanel no 5 and told me my main present will take place next year. A trip on the Orient Express. A bit extravagant but he did say "well it is a big b/day.
Not telling you what but it has a 0 at the end and the first number comes after 5. hee hee. :D
DD1&2 and DGD2 & baby DGD spent the morning here, they've just gone as I had to get to the h/dressers, got there and they had shut.
So here I am surounded by cards, flowers and pressies, I'm so lucky and yes for those of you wished, I have been spoilt rotten and feel quite humbled. :o
I posted that my DMum & OH canceled coming down because DM was poorly, thank God they didn't because that jtn on the M5 is the one they get off to come to Glastonbury and they would have been there about 8.30. Can't stop thinking of those poor people and their familys, it could so easily have been mine.
Well no OS today but I have pre cooked a lamb curry dinner for me, DH, BiL & GF who are coming to stay over. We are going to our local tonight for a drink or ten, I think DH has organised something because whilst down town y/day I bumped into a friend I hadn't seen for a while and she said "see you tomorrow" followed by "oh err oops". ;)
So I'll put my glad rags on feefee my hair and paint the town a pale pink, not quite up to red. :rotfl:

TIREDMUM fingers crossed for your DS.
MOLLY Thanks for the good news about MOOLOO's DGD :T
BITSY, Thanks for the advice, you're right I can do it. :A

    JANNYANNY, Happy birthday for yesterday

Hugs going free here, help yourself from the bottomless pot. xx
  • Tappers....I know I have already spoken to you about it on FB but am going to nag you here too, please go and see the GP for help whether it be counselling/ tablets/ both. As I said earlier I had stress and depression and ignored it and carried on until it was almost a complete breakdown which was far more unpleasant and difficult to sort out than it would have been if I had got the help earlier. You may need some time away from work too.
I am still on Anti d`s a few years down the line and I used to feel embarrassed about it, however I now just think sod it, if I had diabetes or something I would prob be on meds and this is no different.
Am having a rest day today as DS is at his dads. I don`t do bonfire night really as fireworks freak me out!
Not been on much as still struggling with DS:o. He had the worst meltdown I have ever seen yesterday to do with getting dressed and his sensory/autistic issues. i am now sporting a black eye and bruised cheekbone:o and feeling a bit shocked by it all. Behav Psych has rushed an appointment forward for next week.
Mummysaver has been in touch on FB to say they are all fine so that is a relief.
Going to sort through some of my Xmas plans now and get the last of it sorted...only a couple of presents to buy/make and I am done.
DH pampering me a bit today with chocs and coffee and baths after yesterdays fiasco.
Beth I hope you are having a fab birthday:j
  • Bramble I agree with RR it is your personal choice whether you treat it as the last time or not.
Some people just say goodbye in a casual way as if they would be seeing them again next week as they don`t feel they can cope with the huge emotions of doing it any other way. Others like to have the time to say their last goodbyes and tell the person how much they meant to them etc and generally say what they need to say.
There is no right and wrong way with these things.
When I said good bye to my grandma several years ago I kept it very casual as I could not deal with a big emotional upset and was trying to hold myself together at the time ( DS was 6 months old and I had PND put was denying it to myself and all around me)......I often wish now though that I`d had the courage to sit with her and say how I felt and say goodbye properly....even writing that has made me teary:o
Whichever way you choose though I am sure your grandad knows already how much he means to you...hugs to you and sorry you are having to face this situation xx

Thanks guys, I will see what tomorrow brings I think. I feel like I'm not spending enough time with him, but he is tired and I haven't got much to say...

Beth - glad you are having a lovely day.

    Belated birthday wishes JannyAnni

I have my new pans:j:j, I've sorted the drawer out and chucked all the old rubbish broken ones away. How excited am I:D

House is clean and most of the washing done, just about to run a bath and have a soak before getting ready to go to our friends which is a quick stroll up the road and an easy stagger back:D

Will be wrapping up warm to watch the fireworks but at least its not raining.

Have a good evening all, stay safe

My thoughts are with those involved in the awful crash on the M5.
Taplady - I think you probably know yourself when you can't go on and this seems to be that time. Go and get help before it becomes completely overwhelming.
Beth - Happy Birthday to You!
Bramble - I would play it by ear. If your Gdad is cheerful and chatty then they will be your last memories. (sorry, can't find the words to say what I mean!).
Hugs to those in need (or just want one).

I am still knitting hats for christmas pressies but the list keeps getting longer. 5 done and about 2 to go! Apart from 2 pressies for very ungrateful niece and nephew, I have finished shopping. I will go to the shops as christmas gets nearer as I like the atmosphere but wont have any pressure.

Washing up to date, the fog lifted about lunchtime so I put the washing out for a couple of hours for an airing. It's nowhere near dry but smells lovely on the airers. Housework not bad as we never seem to be in!

Off to work tonight but off again till Wednesday. Can't wait till Thursday to get back to the dentist to have this tooth sorted. On anti-bs and sore when I bite (perhaps it will stop me eating!). Take care. XX
