I wonder if anyone could HELP me. I too had a mortgage with North Rock but have moved since & have not receive a letter as guessing they don't know where I am. How do I contact Northern Rock & find out whether I'm entitled to a PPI reclaim?? Would be grateful for some advice. Thanks in advance. :0)0

I too would be interested in kowing the first contact point at Northern Rock as I had a loan with them several years ago. I note there is no mention on their web site on PPI and even their own search engine did not find mention of the words at all. From Martins basic guide on this site and links to other banks, the others seem to be more up front on this than Northenr Rock.0 -

1 - mortgage PPI is not seen to have the same issues as loan and credit card PPI
2 - many mortgage PPI plans are put in place by mortgage advisers/brokers under an advice process and not a sales process. A broker/adviser carries the liability for advice, not the lender.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Same happened to me, a letter out of the blue like you no paper work on loan. Just ticked one box sent the letter back and bingo last week got a tidy sum in my back account!!! So go for it.0

Had a cold call from a claims company asking all the usual questions, I had a loan out with Northern Rock in 2004 but did not take out PPI.
This claim company is stating that some lenders added it on without the customers knowledge and should claim anyway.
The paperwork says no PPI taken...... is it worth a claim? this claim company want 39% in total of any successful claim, thinking of just doing it myself!

This claim company is stating that some lenders added it on without the customers knowledge and should claim anyway.
The Ministry of Justice recently issued a ruling to claims companies that they should first ascertain if there was PPI and if it was mis-sold before making a complaint. This cold calling ambulance chaser appears to be disregarding instructions from it's regulator. The paperwork says no PPI taken.
So, what is your complaint going to be? The claims company may be encouraging you to put in a fraudulent complaint but remember that you are putting your name to it. Do, you want to be party to that?thinking of just doing it myself!
doing what? You dont have anything to complain about other than perhaps reporting the claims company for rule breaches.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I recieved this letter too. I asked in april 2008 to cancel the ppi as I was having difficulties with repayments and didnt need or ask for the PPI anyway but was refused point blank.
In january 2009 I had to declare BR as I could no longer keep up with repaymens.
Does anybody think I have a chance of getting some compensation for that.
Thanks0 -
I got the usual letter from NRAM back in late October. I returned the tick box form and they have finally responded this week, 7 months later!! So don't give up, they do reply eventually and to be fair they must have a mountain of paperwork.0

At last had my offer through today! One week short of 7 months after sending in questionaire. Guess I`ll wait another 7 months now before they pay out.0
