Agree that ukash has a failed business model
started in 2005 won queens award for enterprise in 2012 for second year in succession.
but when you wipidea them ho ho the scams including gumtree come up.
thats 7 years on a business model that is now one of the top scammers paradise.
they are regulated by the FSA Financial services authority
and its just a matter of time until the FSA step in and say enoughs enough.
if everyone writes or phones the FSA and complains about ukash failed business model it could accelerate the process.
Treat ukash vouchers like cash - somebody just e-mailed me a £50 note so im off to spend it NO i dont think so
flawed and will be used by scammers for ever until changed
    cheers
UKASH does not have a failed business model at all infact it is just as good as others in the field. They can easily get the Wikepedia stuff removed. The FSA will not come into this as they have done nothing wrong here and they already have a market of people that will continue to use them.

Lets look at Western Union, probably the most associated company with scammers but doesnt stop them making a profit and not a flawed business model. I use hem when needed but that is because I know my money will get to who I want it to. They have a market of people that will continue to use them daily, any shop I go into that are an agent there is always loads of people using them especially in London

it seems there is a lot of negativity
so we differ and move on

Just to remind everyone how best to avoid this and “new” (and similar) scams that follow the security loophole inherent on Gumtree and similar online “classified ads” online systems:

·If the seller does not provide a “contact phone number” shown on their ad, be wary straight away.
·In this situation, do NOT reply to the ad with your “MOBILE” number (on the ad’s contact the seller response form).
·In this situation, always WAIT until the seller replies to you by Gumtree’s secure email forwarding system before giving out your contact phone number.
·If the seller did not show a “contact phone number” visible on the their ad, but replies to you by “text” (as you did send them your mobile number when replying to the ad initially), and they then give you their “email address” in one of their text replies, walk away immediately, and report the ad as being suspicious.
    · If the seller wants you to "email" them directly (outside of Gumtree's secure email system), you are at very high risk of fraud.

If a seller places an ad that has no contact phone number given (or they won’t answer a number they have provided), then please think very carefully before giving out your MOBILE NUMBER when replying to any such ad. Gumtree provides an excellent and secure email system. Use it in this this situation! If no contact phone number has been given on the ad (or their number provided is never answered), then you must WAIT until the seller responds to you via Gumtree’s SECURE EMAIL forwarding system before you provide your contact number to the seller. See thread #359.

Forcing "scammers" to use Gumtrees secure email forwarding system, means they leave a "trail" on Gumtree's secure system that can be automatically checked (by Gumtree and the Police), that many scammers will not want to leave.

There are other scams, where this advice will not help, but for the current UKash scam methodology, it should help.

!!!!!!? I suggest you reread my posts rather than making assumptions.

*As for not interested you obviously have been otherwise you wouldnt of responded to my posts
*I at no point never said it wasn't in Belgium
*UKASH quite clearly dont have a failed business model
*Scamming wont affect UKASH as per my example above
*I asked is it a case the a report has been made to the FSA?
    * It is etc not ect.

You should be trying to get Gumtree to change here not UKASH. Gumtree is the conduit here, by getting UKASH to change they will then probably start using another voucher portal company.

As I have already suggested as these are coming from abroad I dont see how gumtree are accepting adds from people posting from outside the UK for the UK gumtree regions, they could esily make the change to put this in place. Granted they could use a proxy but then they could have other checks like a uk landline number etc etc

I'm another fool this happened to today! Saw a 70s pearl chrome drum kit on gumtree for the brother in law (still on there ref 1003107825). As it was supposedly local to me I said i'd sort it for him. Enquired last Friday and got a text back from Lisa stating any questions mail lisa75morganatgmail.com. So back and forward with the exact emails that others have posted, first she was going to deliver and then being so busy she offers parcelforce through her work. Got a lot on my plate at the moment so like a fool did the £100 ukash voucher without a second thought.... about half hour later i realised and attempted to spend the money on a gadget site but it was gone, these are on the ball! Have reported it to police, gumtree and the ukash fraud line but haven't a hope in getting anything back so please save your pennies. A very unhappy Dan

Google the advert text Dan you'll see its been ripped off a legitimate ebay advert.

Also found this, which is interesting:
