We are here trying to raise the profile and ion the hope people will google the email address or emails before parting with their money. a lot of us have lost out too. read back and follow the suggestions to report to actionfraud, ukash complaint, gumtree complaint etc.
Can you add the gumtree item number to your post please (find it by viewing the page on browser history)0 -
Exactly the same scenario for me, luckily smelled a rat when I received the Parcelforce email from royal-mail at courier-updates.info (I'm a former Postie and know that isn't Royal Mail's address).
The ad for a Marshall guitar amp is still up on Gumtree although I have reported it www . gumtree . com/p/for-sale/marshall-as50d-acoustic-soloist-electro-guitar-amplifier-amp-with-footswitch/1003281359
Emails from Lisa Austin

And here's the original ebay listing they stole

Also, why on earth are people on here talking about getting Watchdog and channel 5 involved to publicise the scam, isn't there someone closer at hand who's on the radio every day?
:money:
Maybe someone should stop promoting Tesco's Club Card and instead use the air-time and emails to warn the millions of people who use classified ads of these scams.0 -
We are doing what we can. We'll look to you to get in touch with the site and Martin Lewis then MisterSitter??0

I thought I did report it (post 393 above), that's why I'm here.
So although this has been going on for 18 months and the thread has nearly 400 posts claiming thousands of pounds in thefts, 'editorial' isn't aware of it and it's down to someone who's been a member for a few hours to let them know?
Really? That's what you think?
Thanks for replying, it was a huge help.0 -

Its a users bulletin board. I doubt very much it is policed and monitored by the staff, so they can 'take action'!!! In fact I dare say its a separate hosting altogether and has been integrated into the main MSE website.
What I think is this isn't a space that MSE use to look for cases to investigate, and 'what I think' is if you want Martin Lewis to mention it in his show you are best to put a case together and ensure it gets to him.0 -
There are mods for the boards and you would hope that if they felt a story was newsworthy, that they could bring it to the attention of someone with some clout.
I would imagine that Martin, is asked to look into numerous items each week, possibly even each day, so has to cherry pick what he chooses to look into or get others to look into.
I wonder what overall % of overall transactions on gumtree this and other scams on it amount to. Probably a very tiny % and therefore not considered newsworthy.
I would imagine Ebay has far more scams on it, then gumtree by a country mile, but Ebay scams, seem to get little or no coverage in the grand scheme of things either.
Having said all that, I do hope one day, the scam is shut down and feel sorry for those taken in by it.0 -
I can confirm that this scam is being run from Budapest, Hungary so very unlikely anything can be done about it but Gumtree should be using due dilligence here and I see no reason why they dont just block the IP range from Budapest, I cannot see them losing anything in doing this as they dont make money from the free adverts and very unlikely that people logging on from over there would have something to sell here0
