  • Wow, sorry to hear about your situation. Maybe suggest she goes on jeremy kyle, he will do a DNA? Alternatively nimble diagnostics will for £150 as soon as baby is born (unless other routes are followed ie termination).

I feel sorry for your brother and your family, but he sounds like he is trying to do the right thing and needs a pat on the back for being adult about it.
  • dont take this the wrong way but what is your brothers mental age if he has learning difficulties? even if he is now 16 if his mental age is lower it can still be illegal for her to sleep with him. if he has admitted to sleeping with her for the past year i would definitely be reporting her to the police for statutory rape.

oh and take him to the local GUM clinic for a full sexual health screening!

dont be daft..she wont do that, this baby will be another paycheck!

some people need to learn to shut their legs, or be sterilised!

I'm afraid that is my take on the situation as well. From what I've heard about her she is work shy. Had here first baby at 17 years old and never worked. Her whole family are the same, Mum doesn't work and neither do her 2 brothers.

Ok calm down, if the lady (and I use this term loosely) is only 8 weeks pregnant then there is plenty of time to adjust. But there are a number of issues that need addressing here:

    1 A 30 yo woman was having intercourse with a 15yo boy
2 Said boy has special needs
3 Said boy is now 16yo and in my opinion is a vulnerable adult
4 A 31 yo woman is having intercourse with a vulnerable adult

Your Mum needs to be jumping up and down like a cat on a hot tin roof.
Your Mum needs to be contacting Social Service and or the police.

I have an 18 yo boy with learning difficulties and if this problem ever presented itself the 31 yo womans' feet would touch the floor for all the trouble she would be in.
Oh and she won't be getting a bigger house, she'll be getting a smaller one, 8 feet by 10 feet with bars on the windows.

I think that is exactly right.

It might be difficult to prove they had sex when he was 15 even if he says they did. However, proving she had sex with him as a vulnerable adult shouldn't present any difficulty by way of DNA test when the child is born. The outcome is the same.

And, of course, if it turns out he is not the father all well and good.

I agree with this. Does your brother have a social worker?

My younger Brother (16 years old) announced that his girlfriend is pregnant. [...] My Brother has quite severe learning difficulties and was taken out of mainstream school at the age of 11 to go to a specialist school.

At the risk of causing offence, I wanted to check whether your brother actually has a mental age of 16 and thus was 'old' enough to consent? Without knowing the nature of his severe learning difficulties, it's hard to ascertain this from your post?

I'm not sure on the ins and outs, but he was always around 3 years behind at school. He is under a Consultant for care and gets help at College. I will check with my Mum later and have a read through his paperwork.

I mentioned that he should get checked out, he told me not to be stupid and that this 'women' hasn't got any 'germs!'

Jezza would have a field day!

    Good luck Jannnine.
  • OP I have some questions:

Does your brother have a statement of special needs?

What are your parents views on this at the moment?

What would you consider your brothers' mental/social/emotional age to be taking into account his special needs?

What exactly are your brothers' special needs, ie aspergers (autism), dyslexia, dyspraxia etc?

The answers to the above will determine how this situation should be handled.

Oh and by the way, it doesn't have to be your mum and dad that report this to the social services or police, anyone can do it.

I think this skanky woman is going to use your brother for as long as it suits her, then as soon as her next meal ticket comes along she'll ditch him. Most 16 yo boys with or without special needs would not cope well with this.

No offence caused! My Brother was deprived of oxygen at birth and has always been delayed through-out childhood. I'm not 100% sure what this means regarding his mental age. He is very naive though and trusting.
