OK all, bit of advice please!

Had defrosted some salmon fillets for tea last night, but OH had organised a surprise meal out. Very sweet of him but ruins my menu planning!!
If I cook it tonight how long would it keep for in the fridge? I would probably use it in a salad or stirfry or something this weekend but just wanted to check this would be ok.

    Many thanks.

  • Lizalu, I would think it would be fine to have on Saturday or Sunday (maybe even Monday - use the sniff test!. I quite often take too many out of the freezer on purpose, cook them all in the one batch, and then have the rest on sandwiches or in salad.

My freezer is quite empty and I was wondering whether I should fill it at Asda (buying as much smartprice as possible!) or go to Iceland? Or is there somewhere even better for cheap freezer food, like fish fingers, meat etc?

Thanks Squeaky, thought I was going mad (understandable after a month of the summer hols - lol). Found what I wanted and HM yoghurt now in the flask.

if you want oven-ready freezer food such as fish fingers and the like, then i don't think you can go wrong with Iceland. i've seen a lot of people on her mention a shop called farmfoods but i don't have one of those near me so can't comment on their goods or prices.

Hi, hope someone can help. I want to make a tart using puff pastry. I have tried Delia's Quick flady pastry (from Complete Cookery) before, but it was strange! The butter came out of the pastry and bubbled around it, and the pastry was a strange texture. Is this what I should expect, or did I do something wrong?

    Hiya :)

You may indeed have done something wrong.

For starters - flaky pastry and puff pastry are different.

Next time try the bullet proof pastry recipes on the be-ro site. (The links to pastry stuff is on the right of this page:-
