Basic Fairy Cake receipe and Butter Cream.

Hello all, quick question regarding the above. We've got OH's parents over for supper tomorrow and these cakes usually go down well.

Thing is, we're going away on holiday on Saturday, assuming these some left :D can I freeze them okay.

It will also give me the chance to use up the last few eggs as well :D

I've certainly frozen sponge cake successfully although I tend to use them in cooking afterwards rather than as cakes (eg as trifle sponge etc). I think they might dry out a little but the basic taste is still absolutely fine. Don't know about the buttercream though...

I used to make several dozen fairy cakes at a time when the kids were small and kept them frozen so they would last the week for packed lunches. As far as I can remember they were fine. I used to ice some of them too.

Try stardrops, I used this for my plastic vacuum cleaner "bag", which for some unknown reason got gunged. Worked a treat.

I wonder if anyone can help?

Last year I made a plum liqueur from a recipe on OS. It obviously involved plums and I think vodka but I can't find it to check what else was in it. There was possibly brandy and sugar but I'm not sure of the quantities.

Do posts disappear after a certain length of time? I have just spent ages looking and feel a complete numpty!

    Help!
