    Ok - I've searched and found similar threads but I would like a foolproof way of removing blood stains from clothing please!!!
    I have both stardrops and starclen but have yet to use them, not sure if they'd help? I have tried the old soak in salty water in the past but the stain never seems to go completely.
    Step-daughter got caught out at the weekend whilst camping and wearing her new outfits so i really want to get rid of the stains asap.

    Any suggestions? Many thanks.

    Nile always swears by milk. That's possibly followed by biological washing powder. Don't know about stardrops or starclen - would suggest you test on an inconspicuous patch first.

    If someone's tried to rinse it out in hot water, you're a bit stuffed as that tends to 'set' it. But if you've read the old threads I think you'll know that!

    I have always found that a good soak in cold salty water followed by treatment with Vanish soap and then a hot biological wash usually does the trick.

    I soak in bio washing powder solution, then wash, and it comes out a treat.

    Red lentils don't need soaking. I add a handful to minced beef based sauces to stretch the meat.

    For the lentils, golden lentil soup is gorgeous. Chop a large onion and fry for about 10 mins until soft but not really brown. Add the lentils (about 225g) and cook for a further 1-2 mins. Add about a litre of stock and cook for about 20mins till lentils are soft. You could liquidize if you like, I usually just mush around to break the lentils up a bit.

    Enjoy. It really is that simple and tastes lovely.

    Hi guys, did a quick search for this before posting but didn't really find what I was after...
    I am going to start freezing leftovers from meals and also making extra of some things like chilli, bolognese, jacket potato, quiche etc and then freezing that so save me cooking next time, and my question is this:

    When I decide to use something I have frozen but had already been cooked beforehand, what do I do to make it edible again?

    Do I just let it defrost and heat it through (maybe microwave?)? But then won't this continue the cooking process and some things could end up overcooked?

    It's probably a stupid question with an obvious answer, but I want to check before making me and OH ill!

    to be safe I always defrost first and then cook in the microwave. You are only reheating and not heating enough to cook them though things can dry out so keep a good eye on them

    As a general rule you should defrost overnight in the fridge. This helps prevent the cell structure within whatever you have cooked from breaking down and keeps it hopefully fairly close to how it was when you originally froze it. I say this with my lunchtime soup on the draining board cos I forgot to leave it out last night :)
