Sorry, sure this question will be have been asked before but have searched and can't find an answer.
I've frozen a whole chicken, defrosted it in fridge overnight and roasted for tea. I've just put the carcus with some veg in the SC to make stock - can I then use the stock as a base to make something else and then freeze that meal?
I make all my own baby food for my 7 1/2 month old and want to use the stock to make him quite a few meals from (thick soups, etc) and then freeze them as meals to just defrost as and when needed so need to be sure this is safe to use. Thanks!!!Lightbulb moment 15th Feb 2007:doh: Now Debt Free and plan on it staying that way!

Hi tracy,
Yes, the stock will be fine to freeze. I make soups like that all the time and then put them into the freezer.

Hi all,ok this is gonna sound dumb, but when should you NOT eat veg.
What i mean is,is it ok to just cut a mouldy bit off a tomato and use it?
Is it ok to cut the bad off veg and then use it and is it ok to use veg when its all wrinkly?
Hugs

I'd cut off the bad bit, but I don't do wrinkly.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

Hmm...
A lot of moulds don't just appear on the surface, and certainly fungi too, can have filaments running deep into whatever it's growing on - so cut well in to remove it.
As for the bad on veg... yeah, just cut it off. The very worst goes in my compost bin, and the not so bad that just looks tatty and unappetising or wrinkly goes in my "stock safe". That's an ice cream container that I keep in the freezer. When I'm making stock all these bits get chucked in too. (I know you aren't supposed to put cooked food into a compost bin because it encourages rodents but that's where those veggie bits end up. This because with around 20 cats living within fifty yards of me - there's no such thing as a rodent population around here)

I have some nectarines and kiwi fruit that I'd need to use up in the next couple of days.
Does anyone have any ideas.? I don't have to use both in the same dish.

Hi dellybelly,
The search can be a real pain!
What about a fruit salad? A nectarine crumble or cobbler?
This thread on Kiwi fruit should help: Kiwi Fruit
There are a couple of ideas for nectarines on this thread: Nectarinesand some ideas that could be adapted from this thread: Peaches on their last legs
