It depends on the fruit and the recipe! Last week I made some raspberry jam with 1lb raspberries from the freezer and 1lb sugar-no water-and got 2 jars of jam.
If you have a Good Housekeeping cookbook they usually tell you how many pounds the recipe makes.0 -
I normally use extra strong plain flour for bread and thought I had some in but I don't. I am using fresh yeast - can I use normal plain flour - I've got the Sainsbury's own stuff - or am I better off leaving it? :beer: I'd rather not start it if it's not going to be any good!:rolleyes:

Normal plain flour doesn't have as much gluten in it as the 'strong' stuff - you *can* make bread with it but it's not likely to rise as much, and it won't be the same as normal bread. The kind of yeast you use won't make any difference, it's the amount of gluten in the flour that determines how the dough will stretch to accommodate the gases produced by the yeast, which in turn is what makes the bread rise
Personally, I wouldn't go to all of the effort to make bread with ordinary plain flour.

I've always used the strong bread flour, but a friend of mine used to regularly make her own bread with ordinary flour and it was always fine. she did knead it very well however so maybe that made up for the lack of gluten.0

I brought some sausages yesterday and have frozen them, can i defrost them overnight,use them for a sausage casserole and then freeze the casserole?? Likewise chicken??0

Delilah -Yes they can be defrosted, cooked, then refrozen but not again after defrosting that time.
Basic rules
Freeze once
Cook once
Refreeze once
Reheat once
Always make sure reheated through well, if possible check with thermometer.One day I might be more organised...........

quick questioni have half a sack of pots that have sprouted but not gone soft yet, can they still be used0

Should be OK if you cut the root of the sproutie bit completely out. I boil, mash and use an ice cream scoop to put blobs of mash onto lined baking tray. Open freeze and then when hard knock off tray into freezer bags. When needed place as many 'duchess' potatoes as wanted on a baking tray. Brush with milk and bake until golden brown.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

Anyone use dried milk in coffee ?
I ask this as we're away next week and no fridge in the room, I can't function without my morning cuppahow much do you put in ? Do you have to make it up as milk then add or just add the spoon fulls ? I pressume can just add the powder as that is what coffee machines do. I have some as I use it in the BM so can take that but want to work out how much will need aswell.
Help, I can't cope without coffee:rotfl: Wanting to try it over the weekend so I can 'get used to it' as such.
One day I might be more organised...........
