Tricky one Jinky, but have you tried just asking him if he'd like you to, to save him the bother? Is he adamant that he is coping fine with it, but there is evidence to the contrary? I mean unpaid bills etc.
Basically while i'm trying to save money he's spending it - both debit and credit card.Has spent £1500 in 2 months?!?!?!

We're on a very skint week this week and rather than doing without chocolate altogether, I thought I might "bake" something - only I can't find a recipe for anything I fancy.

Try the chocolate brownies recipe here - it's fabulous and I skip the celebrations bit. NB I have found I get better results if I cook on a lower heat for a bit longer, otherwise it's slightly too gooey.

Chocolate sponge pud. It's a microwave version ready in about five minutes flat that you can find in our Old Style Recipe Collection. Use the Indexes sticky at the top of the Old Style forum list.

Silverelephant this is gorgeous. It serves my family of 5 twice each (just). It's nice warm - can be reheated in the microwave.

The recipe is in US cups. I know I did an imperial version somewhere which I'll try and find. It's taken me ages to track this recipe down, despite going to the recipe board thread and typing Chocolate Fudge Pudding into the search. Apparently there were no matches

OK, so that didn't work - a bit of copying and pasting ;)

    Chocolate fudge Pudding

First find a cup that holds 8 fl oz of liquid(a US cup measure)

Grease a shallow baking dish - about 9'' by 13''

    Sift together
    1 cup plain flour
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt
    ⅔ cup sugar
    2 tbsp cocoa

    add
    ½ cup milk
2 tbsp melted butter or marge
    1 tsp vanilla extract(optional)

Mix until just smooth, then spoon into the baking dish.

    Mix together
    4 tbsp cocoa
1 cup soft brown sugar(light or dark)

    Sprinkle over batter in dish.
Pour over all 1 ½ cups of just-boiled water - DO NOT STIR

Bake for 40 mins at 180c
    Serve warm with whipped cream......yummmy
When it's cooked there will be a thick fudgy sauce a the bottom of the pudding and a cakey bit on top. It's nice with some instant coffee(about a dessert spoon) added to the cocoa and sugar bit.

Hi can anyone help - I am sure I read a recipe on here for a cake using bananas in place of butter, but can't for the life of me find it.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi there
I'm hoping to make my Mum some vanilla fudge for Mothering Sunday. The recipe I have says 200g dark choc, 1tsp vanilla extract and condensed milk but doesn't give any quantities. Can anyone help me out please? I bought a tube of it from Mr t last night and its weight is 450g.
    Many thanks

To those of you searching for things and having no luck... just thought I'd ask... have you read the sticky about searches at the top of the forum list?

If you have, sorry, but it's an easy one to miss :)

I am making a (lamb's) liver and bacon casserole tomorrow, and have in the fridge a rather sad looking yellow pepper. How would it be if I put it in the casserole? Would it swamp the other flavours?

I was asked by the kind respondent to my query to update as to the result. I can report that the pepper, far from swamping the flavour, virtually disintegrated in the cooking (slow cooker), but didn't spoil it at all.

I must just sing the praises of liver & bacon casserole for economy - I bought the smallest pack available in Tescos (75p) and with half a pack of bacon and an onion it made easily enough for four good servings. Tasted "just like mother used to make" - yum.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
