Anyway thanks for all the tips - Ill try a few (hot bath, Horlicks and bed to myself tonight) and let this board get back to OS foodie bits instead of relationship counselling!
:o Sorry, couldn't help myself ... but it does sound like a good long talk is worthwhile. At least it's not that he won't, or doesn't know how: as you say he may just think he's landed on his feet, and I'm sure he doesn't realise how tired you are. Although from what I read elsewhere as well as my own experience, you invariably have to ask to get men to do things.

I mean, I usually cook, but on the rare nights DH gets home in time to do so, he's incapable of looking in the freezer to work out what to cook, I have to tell him. Even when I've told him, he can't always find it, even when I KNOW it's there! And there's no point asking him to use anything up: he just has no idea!

And as for boys washing up - just don't go there!

BTW, I liked the way Squeaky quoted my post and then gave advice on how to do the laundry? :rotfl:

    Blimey!

    How did that happen?

You've been moving quote buttons while I wasn't looking!

Either that or I'm going senile.

    Never made it before ...

and would like to double up the batch. Can I freeze lentil soup ????

Also, what happens if you cook lentils for longer than the recipe says, I want to do it in the SC but obviously slowly slowly slowly.

    Many thanks in advance

Your question got lost in the debates over who does the housework :)

To answer, lentil soup freezes really well, you should have no problems there.

I would assume nothing too much could go wrong with keeping cooking it as long as there's enough liquid in there - I find it does thicken up a lot as the lentils disintegrate. I would guess they'll just disintegrate totally, not really a problem IMHO. But someone else might know this for certain. I am sure about the freezing issue though :)

I try to always have some lentil soup in the freezer :) perfect on a miserable cold day.
  • And skint-catt a couple of things. First of all are you really sure that you are doing a lot more than your BF? I ask just cos sometimes I've gone off at DH for not doing anything and he's given me a list of things that he has done that I haven't noticed :) and it does take the wind out of your sails a bit even if you know you've still done more. The other thing is to assume that he just hasn't noticed and start like that rather than accusing. Finally take a good look, are your standards too high? When you mention the bathroom I confess I'm a once a week type of gal especially in the upstairs where no one but us sees it. Work out what's realistic.

But yeah you do have to talk about it. I took on all the washing when we first got together even tho DH had done his own at home. And now he claims he doesn't know how to use a machine....start as you mean to go on.

:o Me to teenager: "COME AND DO THE WASHING UP!" Teenager to me: "I've done it ..." And they have, too.

DH does do the bins every week. Without being asked or reminded. Just as well as I forget / can't work out which bins need to go out / don't want to go out in the cold! and I don't trust him with the washing machine since he turned my honeymoon lingerie a nasty mushroom colour, 25+ years ago! But the lads are all laundry trained!

Back to izoomzoom's question, is there ANY kind of soup you can't freeze? I haven't found it yet ...
