I usually try a bath before bed with lavender essential oil or something. Helps a bit. Exercise during the day is helping - I go for a lunch hour walk. Also reading something fairly mundane before going to bed helps me fall asleep quicker. The other tip I read recently said if you wake up don't look at the clock at all as that wakes you up completely and then you can't fall asleep again - not sure how much this helps thoughworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

I didn't think of this, but I've actually been trying it recently without realising! It works too otherwise you lie there worrying about the time!
Hot bath is out unfort - long story. I know I don't do enough exercise as I've been working long hours but OH and I do try to get out for a walk in the evening. Will try the mundane book too - mybook is too exciting to put down, lol!

try moving everything apart form sleeping out of your bedroom. read downstairs before getting into bed, if you cant sleep go back downstairs after 30mins or so. don't look at the clock, just guesstimate the 30mins. do something else for 20mins then try again. if you do nothing but sleep in bed you learn to associate bed with sleep. if you read/watch tv etc. you don't associate bed with sleep so its harder to fall asleep.0 -
Thanks purplecatlover, we haven't had the TV in the bedroom working until this week so thats a blow. I do like to be confortable when reading though and its warmer in bed than anywhere else
One of the issues is OH takes up 3/4 of the bed which means I can only sleep on my left shoulder which is fien for a bit but then I get stiff or pains in my hip but can't do anything about it. He's a dead weight but not fair to wake him up.
I've thought about setting the spare sofabed up but it means dismantling his drumkit and anyway I don't want there to be a 'spare bed' option as its too easy after an argument.0 -
Skintcatt your problem is simple but alas not necessarily easy to fix. You need a bigger bed. You're not sleeping cos you aren't physically comfortable enough to sleep.
I think you should make it a priority once you get everything paid off. The only other suggestion would be to try to be in bed and asleep before your DH comes up??0 -
Hi all,
Have just got a slow cooker. Trying it out for the first time tonight (has been cooking all day while I am at work).
Thinking ahead for other dishes, does anyone have any advice on using jars of sauce, like spaghetti sauce or say sausage casserole saucses. Do you need to add more liquid?
Thanks in advance.0
