You can now book flights using a Mastercard Prepaid - for no charge - as long as the flight departs from OUTSIDE the UK, and your card is registered to a foreign address.
Hmm.
No, I have brought flights from France to the UK, with my UK caxtonFX card in Euros, and was not charged a fee. I've also used a neteller card in £ for flights from Poland to the UK and was again not charged a fee.0 -
yeah just make sure you make a purchase on your card at least once every 6 months to avoid the £2.50 inactivity fee.
After 31/03/2012 there will be a 50p charge each time you use this card within the UK. There is no fee if you use the card on the RyanAir website. If you use it outside the UK there is no fee (but there is a foreign exchange loading)
Thanks for that, wanted to be sure0 -
Save money by electing to use your own credit card, if it has no charges on foreign currency if booking a single flight home. I saved £8 in transaction fees recently on an 2 Edinburgh - Pisa flights by paying Ryanair in Euros and allowing my bank to do the conversion.
Ryanair cost was estimated at £120
Santander zero credit was £1120 -

Wasn't the saving wiped out by the fee of £6 per head for using a credit card?0 -

I've realised that if you book flights INTO the UK (e.g. Malta -> Edinburgh) you can use a Prepaid Mastercard. However, any flight originating FROM the UK (e.g. Edinburgh -> Malta -> Edinburgh) adds the admin charge to the Prepaid MC, whether you use Ryanair UK or Ryanair MT.
I think it's unavoidable to get the Cash Passport, but I don't want to get stuck in it's strange rules. Been jumping through hoops for years with RA and defending them constantly, but this takes the mickey0
