Has anyone tested if booking flights from the UK through https://www.ryanair.ie , with a pre-paid mastercard, this charge is avoided?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Avoided these charges myself in September by booking through Travel Republic. Small card surcharge, but still vastly better value than ordering direct.0

Travel Republic only do return trips. Some may prefer one way flights to create their own multi-sector trip.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Well I have just done a brief test on a non-English Ryanair (sub-)site from my UK IP address and got right through to clicking OK to purchase without an extra fee when I input details of my Mastercard Prepaid and my UK physical address.
So was it all an elaborate bluff ?0 -
Travelrepublic is not auth'd by ryanair though0

That card has to be the most cynical mainstream financial product I have ever seen.
Unbelievable. If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -

How did you fill in the Billing Address Country section? I change that and the fees change when I did it?0 -

As i suspected they are basing the card charge on the country that your prepaid card is registered.
They have updated the site now, and as well as selecting the card type you have to say where the card country is. as long as you don't select uk it doesn't charge.
It doesn't seem to be fully implemented yet. As it is still free to use any prepaid card on the UK address listing.0 -
Yes they have now changed it this afternoon.
It won't affect those of us who can change their billing address to a "free" country but it will be interesting to see how OFT and CAA respond to this blatant discrimination within EU.0 -
Booked a flight in the morning and there was no extra charge for the pre-paid mastercard.
Just checked online now to see whether they changed it, but when selecting pre-paid mastercard there is still no administration fee added!0
