Sorry, we didn't spot this last year Dan.
It's a great price, although not officially using the MSE system, so well done
I used a code from MSE (which at the time was CCPOINTS0108) that got the points boost, and admittedly the 5000 extra points was unexpected, so although not using cashback site, it did use an MSE prompt to get the equivalent - for which I was (obv!) very grateful!
Thanks MSE!Friendly greeting!0 -
Im confused.com
Excited about the 96p car insurance post I followed the instructions (for over two hours);
1. search compare website - great - done that, found £100 cash back off swinton
2. signed up to cashback site and found a further £40 swinton with quidco
3. went through quidco and tried both retrieve quote from original search but no capacity to enter discount quot reference then I tried a new quote but was unable to add on the £100 cashback offer
I then received a call from Swinton who state you are uinable to use two cashback offers at the same time and compiled a new quote which again was dearer!!
What am i doing wrong?0 -
Was Swinton the best price from the comparison site(s) you used?
It is often the case that if there are 2 cashbacks available you can only use one, so make sure you use route to get the highest!
You need to consider all prices with the offered cashbacks accounted for to get best.
Some cashbacks are site-exclusive, i.e. the £100 may be only if you go via the confused.com quote. They'll have sent you an email with a link to your quotes, so get back to this best quote via that email link.
Check moneysupermarket.com too, they work best for me but its different for eveyone it would seem. Have exclusive cashback offers too.
The last quote would be dearer as it didn't include the online discount!

Without any cashback or special deals, we got a £80+ REFUND from Tesco car insurance, for ADDING my 17 y.o. learner driver daughter to my wife's policy!!
Our 19 y.o. son (student but no accidents / claims), was already a named driver. I can only assume their computer "averages down" the risk with two of them named?!
Maybe "non-driving daughters" would help others too LOL

I thought I reported a profit the year before last - just saw the line about the 96p insurance and question whether there was a profit on car insurance by anyone.?
Got lowest price for fully comp, then £100 back through quidco and then Prudential added free car breakdown for a year. I think I ended up £40 or more in profit as I cancelled my own breakdown insurance. Cant remember all the details now but Im sure I put it on here.0 -
Trawled the comparison sites and ended up with Fully comp, protected bonus , breakdown etc, with Aviva for £329 less £70 Quidco cashback, then went on Aviva customer website filled in a competition for £250 of tyres and actually won, so you could say my insurance was only £9.00.0

I originally got my renewal quote from Admiral for £734 (fully comp, 0 years NCB), got this down to £706 after I phoned to see if they could get it any cheaper before I checked other insurers.
Went to First Direct and got a quote for 10% lower than this.
Went back to Admiral who decided they'd match it.
Then got them to take off a couple of extras (additional PI, and Hire Car Cover) so got them down to £612 overall.
Went back to First Direct for another 10% off - so got down to £551
Checked back with Admiral - unfortunately they weren't willing to match this so I couldn't go another round of 10% discounts. Boo.
All in all fairly successful though since I've got £180 off my original renewal quote.0 -
Insured OH car last week
Polo 1.4 fully comp £120.08 from RAC
Topcashback doing £80.80 cashback at the moment so net cost 39.28 that's 5p more expensive than my car (post#212)
If you've got an RAC membership number then you can get enhanced cover for no extra cost.
And RAC membership is available for a net cost of £7.80 from Topcashback at the moment.
I didn't do that cos we've already got breakdown cover but £47.08 for breakdown and enhanced insurance cover does sound like a good deal.0 -
