I was with Elephant last year and got a renewal of £516. I also got a much cheaper quote through Admiral which is part of the same group so rang Elephant up and got them to match it.
I also downgraded things like courtesy car and the extra legal services and ended up paying £400! Not bad for a phone call and especially as the next cheapest one was for over £650!!!
Sadly no cashback available for the cheapest two I found but I'm not fussed.English by birth. GEORDIE by the grace of God.0 -
I just paid £26 with RAC, and Quidco cashback, for my car insurance. However, my motorcycle insurance cost me the grand total of -£22. I paid £43 to Swinton. I received a cashback cheque, after three months, for £30. I then have just received another £35 cashback from Quidco. So all in Swinton paid me £22 to take out my motorcycle insurance with them.0

Maybe in the wrong section, but just insured my bike for £8!! Thats including protected no claims, but not legal cover.
Was £73 with Swinton, who are offering £30 cashback after 3 months, also used Quidco, who state cashback is £30, but £35 is pending in my account, will have to wait 3 months for this also, but fingers crossed, all should be well.
Bargain!!0 -

I got my £30 cheque after exactly 3 months and my Quidco £35 was also paid after 3 months. Both amounts safely banked. I cannot believe my insurance was free, with £22 also in my pocket.0 -
I was quite looking forward to this challenge this year as i have got it very cheap the last few years (£51 was my lowest). But it seems that the insurance companies have caught on, as the top 10 results on all the comparison sites have really low cashback. I have the same car, no accidents etc I am 35 over 9 year no claims, so same specs. I can't get under £200.
Anyone else finding it tougher this year?0 -

Yes, managed to get the net cost below £30 a couple of years ago. Didn't really try 12 months ago but am having a go at getting as low as possible this time around.
Best i can find is £70 cashback from RAC on £139.23 policy = net cost £69.23
Second place is £54 cashback from Co-Op on £125.88 policy = net cost £71.880
