Did you get your £15 Boots Lovefilm voucher?

  • I signed up for the Lovefilm - Hah, that's a laugh of a name!- offer in December.
I emailed them yesterday about the fact that I haven't had my voucher and I'd been charged £12.99 on my credit card. I joined 10/12/06 and cancelled online on 08/01/07, my 2 final discs had already been dispatched and I was told by email that I should send these back, and although I did not keep the email - which I now know was a bit dumb - it said I had to return the 2 discs by I'm sure it was about 20th January. I sent the 2 discs back before 10th as a matter of fact, before I went back to work. The reply I got was that they only received them on 22/01/07, so my account was only cancelled on 23/01/07, so I've been charged £12.99 and there is s*d all I can do about it 'cos I haven't kept my emails from them.
There was no mention of the voucher, I know I did fulfill the T&C, I added more than 10 titles when I registered, but then deleted several titles a few days later so that I actually received the titles I wanted in my 'free' trial.
So, still awaiting a reply, I have used the tactic that fair enough about the non refund, but as a gesture they should sort out my voucher asap!!!
Seriously unhappy about this one, don't like the thought of chalking it up to experience, but that might be the only option, might also consider writing to Boots about it as others have previously tried.

No "might consider" about it. You should contact Boots.

They are well aware of the difficulties Lovefilm customers have encountered -- and the more aware they are, the less likely it is in the future that Boots or any other household brand name will risk associating itself with this shabby, shoddy outfit.

I have had a different experience of being ripped off by Lovefilm and wanted to warn people of it.
I wasn't really in it for the voucher but I wanted to trial the service. I signed up online and it states in the terms and conditions that registration hasn't been completed until you add 10 titles to your rental list. I then went on holiday and when I came back had the time to add one title to my list but because I hadn't done anywhere near the full 10 assumed my trial hadn't begun. Of course, I then was billed £9.99 despite the fact I hadn't been sent any films, received any films, watched any films or got anything for my money whatsoever.

I have emailed the company and as with everyone else's experience the customer service just ignores my valid points and says they will not refund me. I would have thought it common sense that if you don’t have any DVD’s in your list then you can’t be said to be trialling the service.

They have broken their own rules yet will not apologise, acknowledge or respond to this point, and I feel I have had money taken from my card fraudulently. I was thinking of contacting Boots as it was through a Boots.com email that I signed up, and I assumed that as an affiliate of Boots the company was trustworthy but it is not -I see others have tried tis approach.

Any suggestions on how to disentangle myself from this company would be appreciated - I would be willing to write off the £10 if it wasn't for the principle that I feel I have been scammed by them.

    cheers
  • As I've said before - tell your c/card company it was an unauthorised transaction and they will credit it back.

When I did this a while back I REALLY told them what i thought of LF and suggested they shouldn't deal with them any more.
  • Still not had my voucher but have had 3 emails telling me I did not qualify even though like others I have done everything that was asked of me. Taking on board tips to find a resolution I have emailed again stating that I registered via this website. Hope this helps. Will report back on progress made...hopefully soon.

  • Hi, just spoke to a lovely Boots Rep on the Boots phone number that another member supplied a few pages up from this and was instantly supplied with 1500 points on my advantage card.

It took all of 2 minuites.

I have to say Boots are fantastic and I will not use Lovefilm again due to their unhelpful nature.

I think you'll find that anyone who has taken the "Boots route" is probably now sorted Martin (full credit to Boots - no credit to LF) but there still seem to be big CS issues with this company - even tho' we appear to have finally got the MD to treat it seriously.
